Why reddit is so insecure?

I've heard a bunch of people call 4chan's interface "stupid" and "confusing" despite being as simple as an interface can get.

>post after post from oldest to newest
>people type things
>red numbers means they quote a post
>you can attach a funny picture

but hey, whatever keeps newshits out I guess
>>
>>46793186
>you can attach a funny picture
Apparently, you can't or chose not to.

It doesn't have a up/downvote button!
I have to post a useless comment that says absolutely nothing of value and search a funny macro image to everything I like or dislike.
That's really awkard.

Tell me, where did I strike a nerve? Why are you taking your frustration out on me?

>>

I can see where people bashing 4chan are getting it from.
>answer to conversation at the top of the thread goes at the bottom (couple years back it didn't even mark you the post on mouse hover)
>no indentation for replies
>no names to differentiate users

But in all honesty, people don't want their opinions to be equal to every other opinion of every other person. They crave recognition, they need nicknames, karma, thumbs up, points.

This is a perfect safeguard against all sorts of newshits and attention whores.

Whenever someone shows amusement through a reply to my anonymously created OC or agrees with me on 4chan despite us both being anonymous it brings me much greater feel of satisfaction than any dumb fucking forum karma or upvotes.

I once made a relatively "funny" YouTube comment that was actually dumb as hell but kept getting replies and thumbs up almost every week, I'm glad the Google plus migration completely murdered all old comments and buried them
>>
I've never used Facebook, Quora, Reddit, or Craigslist

What's wrong with the others? they're mind numbingly simple.
>>
>>46793305
There's nothing wrong with them. He's just being a typical butthurt "redditor".

>>
>>46793305
I guess that they're so simple?

If you're interface isn't as useless and awful as Twitter or YouTube you're just not keeping up with modern web technology.
>>
>>46794011
>YouTube
question about this, how does anybody keep up with comment chains in youtube? it opens up a whole new fucking window every time I try to click whoever they replied to. Have they not fully grasped the concept of threads or something?
>>
>>46794387
Youtube comments completely stopped working for me, I can't comment, upvote, reply to other comments or anything at all. I can only read. It always pops up a popup window for like 1 second before automatically closing it for no reason when I click on "reply" or w/e.
I turned off adblock, turned off browser popup blocking stuff etc. and it still won't let me do anything.

Leave it to google to break perfectly working stuff I guess. It all worked fine back in 2007.
>>
But Wikipedia, Craigslist and Amazon have great interfaces
Craigslist has been improving their search function lately, and its much nicer
Honestly reddits interface is a little unintuitive but it works
They could use a redesign

4chan is a turnoff because "good" posts don't get brought up to the top and "bad" posts don't get flagged. Also, of course, we don't tolerate newshits and we always call each other niggers.

The only thing 4chan could benefit from is threaded replies.
>>
>>46802294
You mean like the inline quote expansion?
>>
>>46802294

>>
>>46802294
too much scrolling up and down for that, threaded replies work for reddit, and they would work for youtube if they would fucking implement them, but they wouldn't work for 4chan.

use this instead. >>46802423
What 4chan could use is a "make all quotes inline" button that you can click the first time you visit a big thread. I'd like that anyway.
>>
>>46802221
this
casuals just want their content brought to them
on 4chan you have to start finding the good stuff in this landfill of shit

I really do feel that moot tried too hard to make this site more newfag-friendly.

>4chan strips EXIF data to prevent accidental doxing
>no email field because newshits thought it was required and entered their real email
>no more visible sage because newshits were getting their feelings hurt
>no more deletion passwords because newshits thought they were making a 4chan account or something
and then there's fucking auto-noko.
Back when newshits were actually dumbfounded because they had no idea how the site worked, there was no catalog to save you, and they couldn't find their thread so they would crawl back to where they came and not ruin this site with their worthless opinions.
>>
>>46804640
>they would crawl back to where they came and not ruin this site with their worthless opinions.
i think a certain someone in this thread should be doing this right now
>>
>>46804640

>no more visible sage because newshits were getting their feelings hurt

Even so, it's nice that there's no more 'SAGE' spam or petty arguments in threads over the use of it.

>>
>>46793129
What constitutes a "boring interface"? I think reddit has a shit interface that is annoyingly difficult to work with and I can't understand how it's users put up with it, but how is it "boring"? Would it not be boring if we put web 1.0 gifs everywhere?
>>
>>46804640
>thought it was required and entered their real email
Oh boy my first post
>>
>>46804720

I wished it was retained in /jp/ at least because they never abused the function.

moot fucked a lot of stuff but at least admitted to it in the end in his final Q&A. I don't really have a hope that the site will get better with the new admins and such. In all of the important website metrics, other sites do much better. Loyal website base and the occasional trend that quickly gets "stolen" or "repurposed" by other sites is all that actually keeps the site up. It's going to be a decaying corpse unless a stance is taken to actually try and improve the quality of the site, which is impossible given the way the site works now.

It's pretentious yahoo answers + facebook.

Example:
What's the difference between air and cheese?

Top Response:
Let me tell you a story. This is a story about how Steve Jobs was the greatest person ever alive. I once served him pizza and sucked his dick. He didn't thank me, he just said "buy an iphone" and left. Anyways, back to your question. One is cheese, one is air.

I'd say all those websites have good interfaces minus facebook and amazon.

I'd say Craigslist too, but I (and probably most people) only use it for sketch activities so I find the unappealing interface quite fitting.
