So samsung has officially signed their death certificate.
>no removable back or battery
>no microSD
>complete and utter clone of iphone 6 but with a rectangle button

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjFHv4fZQDc

In light of this news, I'll be getting myself a note 4. Officially the last decent samsung phone.
So how about a thread where we greentext what samsung could have done to take over the market with the s6 instead of this complete blunder?

>same screen and specs as current s6
>note4/galaxy alpha style body
>3300mah battery *removable*
>has same stylus as the note4 with support

Anyone else have any ideas?

I also plan to buy a 4k OLED 21:9 Freesync HDR curved monitor when they are available for any price under $4,500. And my next build is going to be a 4790k with 16GB of RAM and two 390x. Stay poor.

Anyway I don't want it just because lel shiny I want it because there are many instances when surfing the internet when I have to zoom in to read a image especially bad on 4 Chan when people screen cap threads. And I would rather avoid that.

>>
>>46774406
Honestly, what did you people think would happen? Sales continue to drop and they keep all the features that a small portion of the population wants while the masses flock for a shitty locked down iphone. They're going to imitate and try and grab some of those sales. They don't give a fuck about loyal customers, they just want your damn money.

I'll be keeping my Gs5 until it breaks or until I can find a decent phone with dual micro SDs since its the most used feature on my phone and the fucking hardest to get to.

>>
>>46775325

Top kek

The number one feature I look for in a phone is a removable battery.
Second is sd card but they usually go hand in hand.

I like the ability to replace an aging battery or to force it off. How can you reboot if it's stuck otherwise? Unless there's something I don't know about.
>>
>>46775255
I know I'm late, but
>htc m8

>>
Why does a change to an aluminium back plate mean you can't into cards and batteries? Or is it an excuse. I really don't fucking care I want flexibility over muh feels. Most people put cases on anyway.
>>
>>46774886
>no removable back or battery
>this is annoying
It's more than just annoying when your phone freezes and can't be shut off with the hard switch. Had it happen to all my smartphones, including iPhones. Only difference is that with the android phones I could just pop the battery out and back in and be good to go, but with the iPhone you just have to wait for the battery to die.
>>
>>46776230
I guess I should have updated before I posted my comment.
Just when they were getting rid of bloat too.
I'm going to wait until the 64 bit gets taken advantage of and they ship with 4+ gigs of ram.
The edge looks cool but it's probably more rice than anything. But hey, showing off is fun right?

This should be the s5 seeing how the s5 now was really s4 ver2

I'm excited in one way, bummed in another.
This thing got dual front facing speakers at least, right? Right?!

>>

Not that anon but I think I had the same problem one time with a family phone. I just held the power button for ages it seemed like and it didn't do shit.
Plus it's nice to remove all power from the system sometimes.
The biggest advantage is battery replacement. They go bad. While here in the U.S.most of us upgrade every 2 years others don't have subsidized phones. They hold on to them double that. By the end you're chained to a wall or external battery pack.

I'll take it if it means I get functionality back. Plus they're not as ugly as you say they are.
Biggest gripe with my s4 is it's slippery and falls out of my hands easily sometimes. I liked the feel of my sister's s5

And is this octocore necessary? Or is it that switch from low to high power quad core setup Europe had?
Seems silly to have two quad cores but only one works at a time. Wouldn't that money be spent better elsewhere and does it really save power?
The screens seem to be the energy whores.

not shilling for Samsung here, but honestly both are shit

LG - man, they're worse than samsung; a horrible UI worse than touchjizz and also shittily optimized. Also LG devices are very prone to overheating and throttling due to their shitty internal design

HTC: if you look at teardowns, they just fucking glue shit together. How is that good build quality?

Also, what do you have currently open/toggled on in your phone. IE. Wifi, 3G/4G, GPS, Bluetooth, brightness levels.

Glue functions as a shock buffer, and is actually pretty superior to hard fasteners in a phone.

I don't know much about new smartphones, but what exactly is the meaning of this argument?

I mean, do you plan on admiring your phone's aesthetics all day?
No, you will have it in your pocket and pull it out when you need to, and the only thing that matters then is screen quality, not the way it looks otherwise.
Besides, most people end up just using a case, which makes the entire idea of phone looks moot anyways, because you can make it look any way you want.

If I were to buy a new phone, I'd be looking for price and features above all else, and looks would be last.

Besides roms, do you keep brightness, internet and other toggles off to extend battery life? I also just chuck mine on aeroplane mode if I'm not using it.
>>
>>46776897
I'm a constant fiddler with settings. Like excessive. Do you do the same to save battery?

Anyone know how to measure component drain. Like what does my nfc or Bluetooth radio consume?

I'm looking for detailed apps that monitor ALL aspects of my phone and I'm.willing to pay.

I have bluetooth and nfc off all the time if I'm not using it. Although when I do use bluetooth which is quite frequently it doesn't lower it too much and I use it with GPS when I go for walks .

I remember trickster mod or something showing that

Fucking tabs on the S2's back would snap off when they become brittle with age, the fucking screen turns yellow and the red levels go through the roof.

Fucking POS, the battery puffs up and bulges in 4 months to half an year and they only have a warranty for 3 months.

I'll look into it thanks.

GPS likes to suck battery cock.
I have it turn on via nfc when it goes in my car dock though. When I get home I hit the home tag to disable that and other settings.
Problem is my back is too fucked to drive and I can't play with my toys :/

And why is cpuz a shit as a phone app?
It never saves my settings and freezes if I come back to it after going to another app.

Help?

i keep the brightness as low as possible and either the wifi or data is constantly on, but never both. I might try to turn on airplane mode to see if there is improvments.

>>46776931
Yup, but since I'm a normal fag who barely knows how to flash custom roms and kernels, I can't do much tweaking
Im thinking if there is a way to stop certain app to not use any data for a certain period of time.

>wait did it work for xperia phones?
It works for me. No ugly protuding camera lens/flash either. Seriously that flash module looks ugly as fuck.

Some chink scam on jewtube has "cooling film" that goes on the battery.
The amount of lulz in that scam are ridiculous. I had to call that faggot out.
>>46777115
I'm afraid of fucking up my phone with a rom and never being able to use it again.

How do I get some of the s5 features on my s4?
One is I like their flashlight widget.
The app switching is so much faster than holding down my home button too.
Or is that touchwiz boatware?

Lumia 830 with snapdragon 805, 3GB of RAM, FHD screen, and 3000mAh battery.

lol I'm not that afraid though, because the worst thing flashing can do is make it software brick which might spend me an hour to refind the solution to restore it, but it is easy
>>
>>46777211
I thought once you bricked it game over. Hence the term brick.
I have much to learn.

rom that is stable and freedom of customizing anything

>>46777326
I'd probably put slimlp or something on it, but when lolipop roms reach a certain stability threshold, or xposed atleast.

That dude is the most sleazy, blatant Samsung shill mouthpiece cock sucker online. No opinions about the phone.

I feel so pleb.
I have an old droid x, might as well practice on that, right?

Any good resources I should check out?

Why is it I always stumble upon features? I never see documentation and it's annoying. I paid a lot of shekels and I want to use my shit to the fullest.

And if anyone knows a way to reorganize mobile chrome tabs that would be great.
Thanks

Get the back panel off a S4 Black Edition, knockoffs are dirt cheap on ebay and they feel so damned good.
