Unlikely to function, though there's no telling what'll happen, you might get lucky and it still works perfectly. Put it in an old PC and tell us how it goes!

Baking a card partialy melts the wires that are used for either data transport or power and thus baking a card can fix the problem.

Wires on a vidcard can break from warming/cooling cycle of starting up the comp, play gaems and shutting down the comp or from short circuits (powerspikes).

The primary difference between tin/lead and lead-free solders, from a rework and repair standpoint, is the temperatures required to form a proper intermetallic bond. For the most widely used tin/lead alloys such as Sn60 Pb40 or more commonly Sn63 Pb37 (eutectic), the melting point is 361°F (183°C). The most commonly used lead-free alloy, Sn96.5 Ag3.0 Cu0.5, commonly referred to as SAC 305, has a melting point of 422°F (217°C) to 428°F (220°C). The resultant increase in melting point will have the effect of reducing the overall process window and can change the traditionally accepted appearance of the finished product.

Aftermarket cooling is a waste of money unless you're overclocking

No, it's actually a legit thing, he just did it terribly wrong.

don't be an idiot there no reason that card cant work

baking does work. not all the time. not the most recommended ether but i CAN work. i have done so myself 7 times now and 5 of them have been functioning flawlessly. the other 2 still work however showed no improvement. however i did have the common sense to remove the fans and the cooling system in it entirety.

actually i got my xbox 360 back from the dead using the same method. obviously you need to remove all plastic stuff and both heatsinks. and use insulation to protect stuff you dont want to bake. (on the xbox you usually go fo the GPU)

do you know what the problem was that the baking could have fixed? all i ever hear about the shitbox is how it overheats. and to fix that it was a thermal paste issue that needed replacing. also i never really insulate anything i just have some special legs i made to keep it off the pan and keep it even. other then that i dont know what else i can do to increase the success rate of the baking but most the card fix are high end newer models and i get them dirt cheap so its worth the gamble.

You're one lucky son of a gun OP.
Nvidia cards confirmed to still run cool after being baked and having their heat sink removed. It's over AMD is finished.

no dude, my box was one of the first models, the issue with these was that the BGA solderings broke by the intense heat the GPU reach. they improved the air intake flow and throw better heatsinks inside on later models, but the launch models were all doomed to failed by the same issue.

>don't be an idiot there no reason that card cant work
besides the fact that the heatsink was supposed to be removed and not to explode along with the card
