I know qa guy who runs about 10 of those in a company he helps run. Until last year he was running a mini computer bought in 1979 that was running AT&T Unix and they were hooked up to a database he was running. I helped him switch it over to Linux and a more modern computer but we had to make the interfaces between that old technology and the new stuff ourselves. Let me tell you that miniframe computer he bought in 1979 for £20,000 it never once, ever failed. The reasonm we had to change it is because the database got bigger and we couldnt find any scsi disks with the correct pin configuration to fit it.
Normally I troubleshoot grid networks but working with that old stuff is GREAT!

the keyboard isnt the important part, and if it is a terminal, it is probably something very simple like tone generation, you could most probably very easily emulate it using a microcontroller, which I would think would actually be more useful, as you could have it input characters from its own serial connection, so you have the screens without 3 keyboards on your desk
