even apple developers are fucking idiots
no wonder it's the only UNIX-based OS that regularly has massive security issues.

i dont get it, is there a reason you would compare compiled languages to something like python?

I mean, windows is pretty bad but at least they don't purposely gimp older versions so you're forced to buy new ones.

Oh wow it's a statically typed language that is in the same order of magnitude speed of a very slow open source scripting language.

What's that? I only need to spend 1200$ for a new mac so I get to use your shitty language and be locked into your ecosystem? Well sure i'd love that! Please insert your cock directly into my anus next time and skip the middleman

Being able to use emojis for variable names is one of the most retarded design choices I've ever seen. I can just imagine all the new people who get into programming to become the next Stove Jorbs will do stuff like this making the code nearly unreadable.
>>
>>46724705
It's alright most of them wont contribute anything worthwhile and even fewer of them will make their code open source anyway.

A5X was normalised to 1, meaning the relative performance is double.
>/g/ users are dumber than laymen
>>
>>46724052
That'd be great because Python® is awful, but it's awful because Swift® belongs to the iCult.

Deal with it nerds, Apple is the future of all computing and I personally couldn't be happier.

Emoji - those retarded graphics
Emoticons - :^), :D, :(, etc.

two different things

Lol I'm learning python as my first language in intro to cs. It's a good first language to learn but you better learn some C variant too.

variables are declared with either "var" (mutable variable) or "let" (immutable variable). It didn't work because the syntax is wrong.
try this before the second statement:
var a = 0

>>46724722
Swift is nice actually.
The bad part is iOS application architecture and having to deal with objective-c legacy shit with optionals.

So not so much the language that sucks, but the ecosystem. Also xcode crashes on me at least 10 times a day. Fucking apple.
>>
>>46725085
Wouldn't it be better learning C as first language?
>>
>>46724052

Python isn't dead until someone ports ALL of the SciPy libraries, tools and applications to it, and then Python *still* isn't dead until Swift can be developed for on any platform
>>
>>46725716
Python will never be dead the same way COBOL isn't dead.
>>
>>46724616
It's called resource management, if you have a server running multiple services to multiple clients then you would want all your programs to run as efficiently as possible so everything overall works better...
>>
>>46725716
What important programs actually use python? Seriously I can't think of any useful commercial software that uses python.

Python is useful for small programs, gluing programs together and (I would argue) some data analysis with NumPy/matplotlib. Nobody's going to write the next Photoshop in Swift, either; that's a trait it shares with Python
>>
>>46725823
>some data analysis with NumPy/matplotlib
pandas isn't bad either
>>
>>46725823
Can't you just use Visual Basic and C# for that? Which has a better network for support in the data mining community? I really don't see the point in using Python and it doesn't seem the professional world ever did either. Arguably Python was DOA. At least Ruby on Rails is useful for retard business majors.
