I used it because it reminded me of Gedit on Windows, though it was a portable version. Now I just use Sublime Text 3 with some key given away here on /g/.

Pirated sublime text 3. Any reasons I should be using n++?
>>
>>46701377
Who cares, it is all preference. Arguing about this shit is retarded, it like fighting over text editors. I mean why would anyone fight over vi or emacs, noone does that. Imagine if someone made a religion based on those and fight eachother, now that would be hilarous.

Sublime Text 3 is superior in every way.

What plugins for sublime are better than the n++ equivalent if it even has one?

What more do you want from Notepad++'s plugin manager? That thing is how plugins should be done.

Replies like this are why people don't take sublime seriously. All you have to do is say why a plugin is better, how the management differs. If you can't put that into words its not worth someone's time to install.
>>
>>46702398
From a UI standpoint its a mess. I don't care how functional the program is if it looks like shit and is not easily navigated its not worth it. Also lets ignore this.
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Development/Really_basic_missing_features_and_enhancements

Open source and still missing basic little things.
>>
>>46702757
You think he cares whether or not you install it?
You think his initial opinion was up for debate?
You think he needs to attempt to persuade you that his subjective opinion is the correct opinion and that your correct and objective opinion is somehow flawed?

Go be stupid somewhere else.
>>
>>46702806

MS Office is not a mess from "UI Standpoint"?

Who are you to judge what a mess is?

And then a mess for who? Someone who knows nothing? Or someone who is used to using Wordperfect on their 386 computer?

Geany is good. It is like a more capable gedit.
>>
>>46702819
Why does everything on /g/ have to be a debate or argument? I'm not even looking to debate. I don't care about some software dick-waving competition. I'm just looking for examples of things sublime does that is better than notepad++. He referenced better plugins and better plugin management. How do they differ and where does notepad++ come up short next to sublime? This is just like the vim vs emacs debates. I'm not necessarily looking to switch. It would be nice to know what I'm missing out on, or what is offered that would make the switch worth it.

Its ultimately all up to user interpenetration but there are some guidelines for a UI to follow. In this case Word while taking up slightly more room for the top bar does look more organized. And with the growing use of touchscreen devices word is better suited for them.

Nice editor you got there. Renaming languages. I still can't find it without googling, which is something pretty bad for a discipline in which things have 1 name without ambiguities.

Syntax Highlighting

DokuWiki can highlight sourcecode, which makes it easier to read. It uses the GeSHi Generic Syntax Highlighter – so any language supported by GeSHi is supported. The syntax uses the same code and file blocks described in the previous section, but this time the name of the language syntax to be highlighted is included inside the tag, e.g. <code java> or <file java>.
/**
* The HelloWorldApp class implements an application that
* simply displays "Hello World!" to the standard output.
*/
class HelloWorldApp {
public static void main(String[] args) {
System.out.println("Hello World!"); //Display the string.
}
}

The following language strings are currently recognized: []... perl, perl6, per, pf, php-brief, php, pike, pic16, pixelbender, pli, plsql, postgresql, povray, powerbuilder, powershell, proftpd, progress, prolog, properties, providex, purebasic, pycon, python, q, qbasic, rails, rebol, reg, robots, rpmspec, rsplus, ruby, sas, scala, scheme, scilab, sdlbasic, smalltalk, smarty, sql, systemverilog, ...[]
