Why haven't you switched to uBlock yet, anon?

There's a Firefox version now.

The whole acceptable ads thing is a seperate filter list, which isn't included in uBlock.

I just checked for some 10 minute, what requests I got in Firefox for this are:

Favicons
Extension updates & queries
userscript updates
4chanX json for thread updates.
more favicons
blocklist.addon.mozilla, which seems to be a filter depending on your system to remove out extensions you're not able to install( from the addon manager)
raw.githubusercontent.com from gorhill's filter.txt
client1.google/ocsp <- cert server, disabled it from prefereces > advanced > certs

And that's pretty much it, it's mostly favicons and nothing really malicious, this is also a nice way to see if an addon is being a botnet.

Really nice feature.

A specific example would be Comedy Central. Ads continued to load in the background for a full 30 minutes which took me to a total of 1k ads blocked (surely degrading performance). And ads placed in breaks are not handled properly so the video won't play. Ad Block Plus handles this site just fine.

This is simply not the case for either of them. Requests from some domains can be made multiple times over time, and both uBlock and ABP block those requests. How they alert you about those requests may be different, but they are blocked. If you don't want to take my word for it, open up the view box for ABP and the network tool on the developer menu on any popular YouTube video, then watch the requests. The list of blocked objects will grow, but the network window will show that you're not downloading those blocked items.

The rest of the stuff I can't explain, but they both block requests.

some of the IPs are listed on I-BlockList if you search for "goog"
