Or, if you are a power user, luakit.

But is it just as good? I'm actually considering firefox when I install Linux for the first time. I've always used Chrome, but I've started to dislike it.

I always install chromium for family these days. Normal people don't use the features Firefox offers. And the only reason I stick to it is pentadactyl.

Chromium looks like chrome and feels like chrome. Only things that are missing are proprietary video addons like Flash and autoupdater, because it is made for stupid people and you should use good repositories anyway.

Whenever I'm on a Windows box, I actually prefer IE11 these days. It's very slim, better on resource use, looks nice, and so forth. That said, I generally use Firefox or NetSurf on Linux.

No thanks
Gave it a try a few months ago based on a friend
No add ons
Websites don't even load/work correctly
Using 400 mb less of ram doesn't matter in the age where everyone has 8gb
Security matters even less when you've got common sense

I like yandex browser.
The interface it's extremely minimal and gives you the impression of being browsing in full screen even if you aren't doing so.
It's fast, and you can install chrome as well opera apps and widgets, also it comes with some extensions pre-installed (but not activated unless you do it) like adblock, lightscreen shot, WOT and a flash blocker.

Best part of all, it's based on chromium but it uses way less ram on my toaster than chrome or chromium itself, I dunno how this browser manages to do so, but it does.

Firefox. You just have to spend 10 seconds fixing the memory leaks and you're fine.

Could you maybe expand some of these features? I'm afraid I don't fit the normal people catagory, in fact, nobody on this fucking site does.

I'm going to be new to linux, so this doesn't help. Also I'm not english, so would you be kind enough to explain this in laymens terms?

Hasn't been since 3-4 years now. Actually, out of the box, it is easily the best browser - but you can't really do extensions for it. (apparently they are adding FF style extensions in the next version however)

Hello, I'm also not a native speaker.

Do you know whot a Flash Player is? Some people call it Adobe Flash Player.

You probably do know. It was required by youtube to work a couple of years ago. And, of course, by porn sites.

Now we have HTML5 which includes the
<video>
tag, so the flash is mostly no needed anymore.

The point is, Flash is not Open Source. And it has A LOT of security bugs.

The browser developed by Google and other people (it's Open Source, everyone can send code to them) is Called Chromium.

The Google Chrome browser is not open source. Why? Well, Google Chrome is Chromium + Closed Source Adobe Flash Player + some other closed source addons like some proprietary video encoders + google auto updater.

So the only "good" thing in Google Chrome (not Chromium) is the autoupdater.

But in Linux you won't be using that autoupdater at all. You have something called a "package manager" with a "repository". Remember these useful terms.

For example, to update ALL software on a Linux computer you would be using something like pic related (btw it's from Mint).

So install Chromium. It's the same as chrome but with less bloat and is more secure because is fully open source.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to explain this. I need to get into HTML anyway so chromium would be a good option.

But is chromium as customizable as firefox? If I learn HTML? Or doesnt it make a difference?

I'm talking about the layout now.

This is the next version which is the best version for IE.
OP is a tech retard who doesn't know about the IE and 60fps support on all video sites.

Downloading and checking yourself is the best option, it's not THAT big.
You can easly removee software and all its files by your package manager.
There's a package called
chromium
in Debian, Ubuntu, Mint and probably any other distro.

>Hey, thanks for taking the time to explain this. I need to get into HTML anyway so chromium would be a good option.

I don't understand this part. Really. Can you rephrase that?

If you are talking about designing websites using HTML, I'd suggest you Adobe Brackets - see http://brackets.io
>>
>>45805786
I'll install it once I'll get Linux.

I meant to say that I am going to start learning HTML in a few weeks.
