>>45626836
Since still using it. Finding it pretty well. Runs better than I remember. Haven't had any issues. It's no rice fest. But looks nice and has good extensions. was just eating like 320 ram. so that part isn't so bad either.

Convince me to use Arch, /g/.
>>45633723
maybe you should experiment with gtk to get a more unified look between your DE bar and your X windows. just a suggestion.
>>45633752
Slackware user here. I used Arch for a long time. I learned a lot about ricing, and the package manager is fast and powerful. I appreciated the KISS principle and the filesystem was nice and clean. Eventually I left b/c I was tired of shit breaking every update, requiring manual fixes.

Antergos.

You need to use a wallpaper that fits your screen.

>>45633894
simple and minimalistic are not the same thing. arch adds in some useful abstractions that allow users to construct the operating systems they want without worrying either about low-level configuration or high-level choices already being made.
i gladly accept arches "bloat" (which is on a scale that really doesn't matter on modern computers any more) for things like sane package names with unified headers and libs, an easy to use package manager which takes away any temptation to throw files around manually, and merging system directories so files of similar types are all in one place.
How is this thread still here?

Ran Arch Arm + i3 for a short while but it's honestly
simply too under powered. All the lag doesn't make
for a joyful experience. If the RPi was two times
more powerful it would be a fun desktop replacement..
at least for media consumption and general internet browsing purposes.

A person’s legacy and character are defined by everything we do, no matter how small: our hobbies, our interactions with other people, our mistakes, and our choices in the wake of our mistakes. I’ve complained throughout my life about a lack of people willing to be ‘role models’; hypocritically, I have not been acting like one myself. I don’t want people’s final impressions of me to be “a person who cheats at games”. Although it’s small recompense, I’d much rather be remembered – if at all – as a person who owned up to their errors and tried to make things right.

Increase Contrast makes everything look sexy, and the background, not only does it blend in with the menu bar, removes the shadows from behind windows too.
Yes, this is as close as I get to ricing.
Hey guys
Seems like this is the perfect one to ask.
I'm a linux noob and I try to into it with babbys first, aka Ubuntu.
Unity was not bad, but also not that good, so I changed to Xubuntu, because some anon recommended XFCE, I haven't got myself to rice it, but I did notice that it fucked Yakuake for me, and since that is from KDE I was thinking on changing to Kubuntu.
tl;dr: what *buntu version/DE would be better for a linux noob?
