"Don't act without studying first, shithead." is the moral of OPs courageously self-revealing post.

BTW how the fuck does anyone make it to college and study computer science without learning such basic tasks as OS installation as an early teen?

>Because, in my experience, open source software is a piece of shit and I can't be bothered to pay for non-physical stuff.

That statement has nothing to do with VMs. Oracle Virtualbox is free and has been so for many years. Also don't forget to cap and post this thread in your future job interviews.

I know how to install an OS. The OS I was happening to install was a piece of shit.

Every VM is either open or closed source. Because open source software is shitty at best and machine-ruining at worst, and non-physical objects shouldn't be paid for, I don't use VMs.

Stable distros are stable, so use stable distros.

Check components. If yours are not supported, don't use Linux.

All OS are imperfect, choose according to your use case. Windows is a free torrent so money is irrelevant. Run what serves you. I run both with zero fucks given.

Second year CS means nothing. Proof: you.

You say "it won't turn on" but that doesn't explain anything. Later you explained you can't even reach BIOS, so it doesn't POST. Try removing the laptop battery, unplugging from wall, and holding down the power button several times, then try to power it on again. If that still doesn't work, try turning it on while it is plugged into the wall but without laptop battery.

How old is the machine? If more than 3 years replace the CMOS battery just in case and try again

All of those suggestions except replacing the CMOS battery take less than a minute to check and should be done, literally, any time your power button does nothing.

So you aren't going to fix your malfunctioning $2k computer? Why not? Did you already throw it away? Or you don't have a bricked computer because you are a lying sack of shit.
>>
>>45612284
The issue wasn't that it was complex, the issue is that it doesn't work and refuses to let anything else work.
>>

Your motherboard might have failed then. At this point, 4chan is to difficult of a medium to try to help you. You're acting like a child and it isn't worth the effort. There are hundreds of websites all with comprehensive guides to troubleshooting cases where computer doesn't POST. Use Google, seriously. (It is very likely to be some sort of power issue though)

Good luck.

Not so sure, they're not trying very hard to do so. I think they prefer having Windows users that don't pay for the OS as opposed to using something else entirely.

I knew OP was a child. They'll teach you these things once you get to high school.

They are the ones hosting working isos on pirate sites, creating the illusion that their product is actually good.
>>
This kind of guerrilla "marketing" does nothing other than make the company doing it seem desperate, when you try and slander another product instead of promoting your own it leaves people to believe you have nothing good to say about your product. People hated when Apple did it including Apple customers, I'm sure Windows users feel the same way when you people do nothing but shit talk other products all day.

As an aside it's obviously not pulling in any long term customers either if they're that easily swayed.

I've built plenty of desktops with no RAM that beep like shit

I'm dual booting linux with very rarely used windows partition. Sometimes (usually after installing another distro) grub refuses to start and all that appears on the screen is a blinking cursor and maybe an error message saying that boot device is missing. At first i thought too that my laptop is bricked but after googling i found the solution to be to start the laptop on battery power. Too bad OP came here to shitpost before asking google first.
>>
What i've learned from an entire year of using only linux and five years of occasional use is:
If you like windows dont switch to linux because someone told you its better.
I use linux a lot to save infected computers and revive old machines, but if the computer is already working fine with windows, DON'T eventi think about linux, it will do everything to prevent your computer from working correctly, linux is not user friendly, he hates you and whenever robots with arms and legs will mount open source software they will kill us all...
