Never Mr Quads. It takes money to pay good developers. You cannot raise that money without copyrighted software sales.

Who knows.
But if you don't use it, delete script-fu and enjoy your faster startups.

It's funny how wintards always bash community projects but haven't thought once about helping fix them. I guess it makes them feel better about stealing a shit operating system.

Well at least you can make GIMP sort of look and feel like Photoshop if you install the theme and keyboard shortcuts file.

One is as open-source project that is improved every now and then by programmers with a lot of free time because they don't have jobs.

One is made by professional developers who regularly update it.

The answer is never.

Like 5-10 years after Adobe stops developing Photoshop.
>>

There's FBReader, Lucifox and Okular, but why would you need anything more than calibre? Evince is a godly PDF reader anyways.

>>
>>45605699
Because GIMP is free and Adobe sells their creative suite for multiple thousand dollars.

>>
>>45606370
Adobe doesn't care about Linux

>>
>>45606413
It's breddy good, has pretty much everything I need.
>>
>>45606406
>ruining the product
1. That your opinion, doesnt mean that its a bad move
2. Even if we consider it a bad move, PS is superior in so many ways that it doesnt matter what they do to it

For GIMP to be a level with Adobe it would need to match CS' amount of features. And that wont happen for multiple reasons. Why would anyone even care about GIMP? CS and Windows probably are the most commonly and accepted pieces of pirates software.

Both companies just pretend to care. They make almost all their money by selling to companies.
>>
>>45606073
dont you get tired of shilling that here?
>>
>>45606467
Adobe intentionally makes it easy to pirate their product, they want people to, for a good reason. They want people getting used to Photoshop so that theres no chance of them ever switching to something else. So if they ever decide they want to use it professionally in the industry they buy licenses.
>>
>>45605589
Stupid capitalism shiller
>>
>>45606482
And you people just let them have their way. Disgusting.
>>
>>45606501
>let them have their way
I am not paying for CC, so I dont get what your problem is.

What you dont seem to understand is that Photoshop is so god damn superior to any alternative in existence that not using it would be a stupid move. You pay like 600 bucks per year in licenses, which is nothing for a company. If you dont want to spent that muhc money just use an outdated version. Its not like they are that much worse.

The company basically has a monopoly. Its not their fault that they are this good and understand what their customers want/need.
>>
>>45606534
>The company basically has a monopoly.
And you let it happen.
>>
>>45606548
No one settles for a worse product. These are companies we are talking about. Worse software results in worse results or more effort. Neither is accetable if you want to be profitable.
>>
>>45606467
>1. That your opinion, doesnt mean that its a bad move
I'm certain it's a good move for adobe because it lets them rent software to people. kek

>CS and Windows probably are the most commonly and accepted pieces of pirates software.
CS really? It's really specially software that many people don't need, but windows is pirated everywhere. I don't think it's a fair comparison.
>>
>>45606572
>I'm certain it's a good move for adobe
Thats obvious but maybe this also results in them updating their product more often?!

>>45606572
>but windows is pirated everywhere
Obviously its more common. But like one Anon already said: Adobe has no obligation to do anything against people pirating their software. The same applies for Windows. Both companies are used to people doing so and they only pretend to have a problem with it.
>>
>>45606567
If the like 2% of people who know how to computer would dump the money they would have spent licensing Photoshop into the GIMP project, we'd have a free program that outclasses the corporate monster for once. However everyone is too busy letting monopolies happen.
>>
>>45606073
crap shitware, also beta
>>
>>45606613
The problem is that youre suggesting that people support a mediocre product in hope that it will outclass the good one. The important variable here is time. How long will the development cost? Maybe I will be forced to use a shitty program for multiple years.

Its an unneccessary risk most arent willing to take.
>>
>>45606613
When has anything licensed under the GPL surpassed a professional product?

Also, trick question: Firefox is MPL and Chromium is BSD, so you can't use those.
