Also, side note, anyone here knows maybe how to get catalyst to act normal when it comes to screenshots/recording?
When I use Pantheon/Gnome with flgrx enabled it works fine, but when taking a screenshot I usually get a black screen or something similar.
Is there maybe a DE where it doesn't happen? KDE? Cinnamon?

indeed it does seem to be.

cant be certain since i3 has a lot of fuckery but i'll take your word for it.

>>45605788
unity is one reason, but if you have the capacity to dislike unity i'd hope you have the capacity to replace it.

You could hate ubuntu bc packages are often old, my weechat is like over a year old iirc, not that it really matters in that instance.

The repos /seem/ to have less than other distros, but that could also be that i'm looking for specific less popular applications. I heard that ubuntu, or perhaps it was debian, had one of the larger if not largest repos, but take that with a grain of salt.

You could also not like ubuntu if you're a freetard.

But most problems with it can be easily fixed.

This is as an average user, i've spoken with others whom are much more advanced users than I who have reasons why they don't like it. However I can't recall them all.

But the meme-tier hate for ubuntu is just unity+amazon, the latter is a somewhat relevant reason to hate it, but its easy to get rid of completely and is off by default. so w/e

Nah the only distro they have less packages is Arch. They pretty much have every package you would find on debian, since they essentially copy and paste debian's repos. They also have ppas to make up for any package they don't have though.

Finally getting around to customizing i3bar. Bottom one looks better than top one, no?

You don't have to be a ricer to have a good looking setup.

So I know what network I'm on. I use it quite a lot actually.

The default i3bar is better, it matches the rest of your desktop nicely

Not a huge fan of the icon theme but it looks pretty decent overall.
Then again, all the good parts are just provided by Yosemite, so I guess congrats on not fucking up the default too much?

Oh, so whenever you run x11 it disappears?

>>45607566
Yes. Whenever I have X11 focused actually.
But personally I put it in a lot of apps, like Finder. It works like a hidden dock in that if you hold your mouse at the top of the screen, it'll slide back out.

I haven't. I've used Awesome, Spectrwm, Mcwm-Beast, herbstluftwm, and i3, but I've never tried bspwm. What does it have to offer? I'm pretty happy with i3, but if bspwm is better, I'd be happy to switch. What exactly is the integration that that title is referring to?

Well, I think it's a little bit more difficult to set up than i3 wm but as an experience overall it's really good. There's no need for you to switch if you are already good with i3.

Okay. How so? What does it do nicely?

Sure, but if it does something neat I'd love to switch.
