Its almost 2015 /g/
>Still using low ppi 1080p displays.
You should be using 1440p minimum.
>>
23-24" is as big as I feel like going, there aren't any 1440p at this size and I don't feel like spending almost $800 just to have higher than 1080p
>>
>>45504597
My monitor is 4k at 24 inchs.
>>
>>45504597

confirming this. I have a 1440p 27" display and it feels slightly too big. I also regret going over 1080p (for now) because even my 290X can't max new games at 1440p without fps drops.

I just want some OLED 24" screens... please jesus.
>>
Running 4k at 15.6 inches. At 200% scalibg, it's perfect. Same amount of workspace as 1080, but, it looks wayyyyy better.
>>

>>

Windows font rendering is shit.
>>
>>45504597
Basically this... I don't want a 27" monitor on my desk, too big imo. About to buy a 1920x1200 23" monitor, looking forward to 16:10.
>>
>>45504511
Why would I waste money on slightly more vertical space?
>>
tell me where i can find a 21-24 inch 120hz+ display with higher than 1080p resolution please
>>
>>45504677
What are you talking about? I don't think 1440p is worth it right now but it is a 16:9 aspect ratio, just like 1080p.

>ppi 1080p
>>
>>45504644
Dells up2414q is not bad its 4k. 185 ppi, matte, and factory calibrated. Oled is amazing no doubt considering the blacks and response time.
>>
>>45504693
It still has more vertical pixels...

>>
>>45504704
Sure does, but it has more horizontal pixels as well.
>>
>>45504708
I don't really need that, waiting for seiki's 4k VA displays
>>
>>45504706
Doesn't it fuck up some things?
>>
>>45504723
If vertical space is really all you need, though, why not just do dual 1080p monitors in portrait mode, or stacked on top of each other?
>>
I use my 768p laptop to output 768p to a 27 inch monitor and have absolutely no problems. Everyone might bitch at me for it, but I'm totally fine at this range because all of my shows are at 720p and I don't play videogames anymore. My school work doesn't care about screen ppi either.

Too drunk to think. I like it. Guess you'll have to live with it. I really like it over my 22 inch ips viewsonic 1080ps. 1440 in a couple years when I double up on 290xs or go nvidia

gross, input lag

If I had a 4k monitor I could just run games in 1080p and stretch because its an even multiplier, but 1440p isn't and looks worse.
>>
>>45504913
So why don't you have a dual 295x2 rig?

exCUSE me but i'm using a low ppi 8:5 display

i happen to like the big pixels and the screen more than 3 feet from my face
i can still hear the dc transformer at this range
should get an even larger display with even more distance away

TBH my 270x manages BF4 with medium shader settings without hiccups even in the nade fests.

Any benchmarks to back your facts up? Just want to be sure.

Also, if that's the case, why is the GTX 970 being so hyped up?
>>
>>45505311

As far as I'm concerned the scaling at 24" @ 1080p and 27" @ 1440p is perfect. 24" @ 4k would too small.
>>
>>45505289
I have a 970, same deal most games don't take up more than 50% of my GPUs power. only a few "new" games (fancy lighting) do I have to turn down the settings to keep a stable 60fps (or I can play at 40fps but not as smooth)

>>45505310
No, the 970 is actually (slightly) faster in most benchmarks, and its cheaper.
