What panel is that? I've been trying to find a good minimalist panel for openBox for awhile.
I need good icons. My thunar is feeling down with gnome defaults. What do you guys like?
hi
Hey ricers, I'm a newbie and I have a stupid question:
How do i make the following work with my laptop numeric keys (the keyboard doesn't have a numeric keyboard, just the numbers on the top).
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=21177
I'm working on it now but no luck so far.

you wouldn't happen to know how to set a wallpaper using feh with Awsome would you?
Using theme.wallpaper_cmd renders useless when I try.
>>45504626
rc.luaif beautiful.wallpaper then
for s = 1, screen.count() do
gears.wallpaper.maximized(beautiful.wallpaper, s, true)
end
end
theme.luatheme.wallpaper = "/home/wut/.config/awesome/themes/vekin/kohina.png"
I think theme.wallpaper_cmd was depreciated.

Oh okay thanks

you can also use feh in .xinitrc tho if you comment out the lines posted here >>45504669

feh --bg-scale filename

>>45504904
is it better than tint2 or the xfce panel?
Just installed Arch today, need to find a good GTK theme
>>45505030
if you mean tasklist icons, they can be removed w/ this http://awesome.naquadah.org/wiki/Remove_icons
if you mean in the systemtray, that can be removed/commented out in the rc.lua (search for "systray")
>>45505115
xfce panel gives you more features/plugins tho, as this aims to be more minimal, and i prefer this over tint2 because it stretches out the tasks to fill the panel and shows current workspace
>>45504942
Whats the panel you're using?

I want a macbook but I don't want OSX, and I'm afraid to buy one then find out it's hard to get Linux installed on it, or lack of some kind of support.

My only problem with tint2 is how buggy the systray is.
>>45505282
I told you i need to find a GTK theme ;_;

didn't stay w/ it long enough to test that i guess,
still what i was missing most was some indication of what workspace i was on

Not him, but fuck an A! I thought I was just doing something wrong, but that systray is a pile of shit. I ended up just adding a small autohide xfce panel in the top left corner just to have on that worked well, and since it was there already I added a menu button to it so I could access my apps without desktop clicking.

>>45505544
So...
Wait...
You're on /g/ in a ricing thread, and you can't even change the fucking color of icons?
You should just stick with your shitty gnome icons, because the point of chaning icons is to make them look better.
Don't know where you get that flat icons are flamboyant though, and as I said, you should be able to change the colors if you don't like them.
>>45504669
okay I'm failing hard to try and tile my wallpaper.
I thought this would work but it didn't.gears.wallpaper.tiled(beautiful.wallpaper, s,true)
>>45504756
I tried this also, didn't work. just a blank background on restart.
hi desktop thread
is there a gnome 3.10 dark theme that actually works properly
i cant find one that isnt a clusterfucky bugged out mess
ty
recommendations appreciated
>>45505404
Don't like it. I've come to the very unfortunate conclusion that my only modern choices are either a macbook or a chromeboook pixel.
>>45505487
Nope, that systray is fucked, no configuration you can do is fixing it. Looks like development is dead and they have no plans on fixing it either, there's years old bug reports of people complaining about the systray.
>>45505646
I don't see why you'd have any trouble putting linux on a macbook. If you don't care about losing the OS that's on it just DBAN the fuck out of the drive so nothing can stand in your way.
>>45505679
EFI only, no BIOS support.
>>45505686
So is my laptop, and I'm posting from Arch right meow.
>>45505544
>>45505520
I am the person who originally asked about icons.
>I don't like flamboyantly gay overly-colorful neon everything
is not me.
Flattr seems quite nice. I would just monochrome them. Thanks.
>>45505692
Didn't say it was impossible.
>>45505693
Alright man, I actually had another suggestion as well, especially if you like customizable icon sets. Hydroxygen claims something like being "the most customizable icon set" and they look pretty decent to start with.
>>45505611
>just a blank background on restart
feh needs to run before 'exec awesome' in .xinitrc as well in case you put it after (if you put it before then idk)
>>45505705
I know, you just said you were worried about running into problems, and I was trying to help ease your mind. I'm also not the one you were talking to up the thread a ways, I was just following the convo and thought I'd jump in.
