Sup /g/?
Is Ubuntu a solid distro to install? If not, what makes it trash? If so, what are its strengths?
I'm running Crunchbang at the moment and am considering reformatting to Ubuntu.

yes ubuntu is fine. some people don't like unity, but there are several other desktops available (kubuntu, lubuntu, etc..). it was strongly criticised for its integration of the amazon search integration but that can be disabled. tons of available software and every dumb question has been asked before on some forum.

1. Ubuntu has native Amazon integration
2. Other distros don't have native Amazon integration
(1,2) => Ubuntu is the superior distro
Q.E.D.

Do you realize you can remove any hint of Amazon integration with two simple steps?
>>45482077
You do realize that you can install unity on any other distro with two simple steps?
But why would nobody do that.

does it really matter OP?
does anything in life really matter?
>>45480860
if ubuntu is what you are looking for then you really want to install mint

Sup, I am /g/
it's shit
and yes, my opinion is a fact
What's elementary OS like?
>>45482199
Having used both I'd prefer eOs over Mint, it's pretty polished.

yeah ubuntu is fine. I run it on my laptop for general dickery.
/g/ spergs about it being user friendly.

poor man's mac os
but a very good poor man's mac os
The best Ubuntu for a traditional UI in most situations is Xubuntu.
Ubuntu is good. Not the approach I take. But it works. Unity is a little gross though. you can always do minimal install. go for cinnamon or xfce.
arch master race though.
also never a good idea to ask a question about ubuntu on /g/ or anything else really. you will just see botnet and amazon and the occasional bloat response

what an angel
>>45482325
It works as well, but lacks some ease of use that newer users might need at first.

that's so sad...
Ubuntu is a fine South African distro for South Africans.
