They have good mid-bass, not low-bass (AKA Beats AKA NiggerBass that /g/ likes to throw at the 712s). Yeah, I upgraded to them from Q701s when I warrantied them, (buzzed at 40hz, so took advantage of return policy and finally exorcised the nub satan) and love it. I'm a fan of the coiled cable, though.

It is separate from my desk. They are two different ones. I went to ikea to look for some and saw one of these on display. I don't even think they are made for monitor stands.
Got two of the boards and two sets of legs and screwed the legs on. I'd look on theyre website they might have them on there.
If you don't have an ikea in your area I'd reccomend making your own.

Software wise I have pianoteq, every plugin from kxstudio's repo and Pd-extended. I'm going to purchase DIVA and kaivo by madrona labs by the end of the month.

Depends on the finish you want, 200ish is usually what people like for tables.
So I'd start with 60-80, go to 100, do a 100 again but light to not groove the wood, 200-220 for the finish.
If you can rent or get someone to lend you an electric belt sander that'd save you a lot of time. If not, use a block of wood to nail the rough grit in it.
Use gloves, splinters ahoy.
Clean and then oil/lacquer.
