Posting from an old X200 I got for 3000 baht at Pantip plaza, which I think is a pretty good deal, considering some cosmetic damage, couple of keys are borked and the keyboard is the thai keyboard. Those are a non-issue since I'll be replacing the keyboard anyway and I can live with a palmrest cracked at the corner
The previous owner left some nice programs in such as illustrator, photoshop and arduino, apart from other bloatware people love to download. I'll install some lightweight distro and use this as a travel laptop when I return

Repaste is definitely a good idea, I got my x220 with a busted bottom case and while I was replacing it I took a look at the thermal situation as I was at 65+ on idle:

More paste on the surrounding chip surface and resistors than the IHS, with a quarter of a the surface bare. No I get 40s at idle and 73 during gaymen.

hardly depending on your OS, the screen and your type of usage. Windows 7 consumes a shitload of CPU-Power which results in higher power usage. Also the ccfl-scrren needs a lot of power.
I switched from a x200 to a x200s. With the same battery the difference of ccfl to led and standard 25w to undervolted 17w cpu resulted in +40% more battery life.
