Good one. Only a small percentage of (important) jobs, mostly engineering because of those giant legacy software suites with 4000 word warranties, absolutely demand windows. Still, the average /g/-tier windows job is windows development and tech support.

Most jobs are doable with OS X. Strike manual form filling (with MS formats), MS format-only info sharing, and graphic design from the list and you're left with jobs that linux is suited for.

What changed? I use the add to search bar extension, put the search box in the burger menu, and use that to change what engine it uses from the URL bar (or use prefixes)

Will the new version disrupt this? I liked being able to type "amzn WD green" or "gi laughing girls".
>>
>>45421191
Yeah, let's ignore the fact that .NET is second only to Java on serious enterprise systems.
>>
>can't remove search engines

How do I remove them? HOLY SHITAWTHIAWIHT
This is seriously giving me a fuck. Why do they just randomly remove features? WHY?!
>>
>>45421326
New Version doesn't allow you to set keywords, but if you're some sort of tard who actually uses the search box, it's more useful as it shows a selection of search engines you can tab through instead of needing to switch back and forth everytime.
>>
>>45421358
People are complaining they'll likely bring back that functionality as well as the keywords.

The thing is that they didn't remove anything. You are just too incompetent to use a simple web browser.

Yes, we get it, you maintain a system that doles out paychecks and keeps track of employee hours for your employer's MS-only intranet (and it's less reliable than the old one that was written in cobol)

Never mind the fact that really serious enterprise systems, ie: not ones at Bumfuck City Local Paper and Printing Co. run Z/OS, solaris, HP-UX, or Linux (<-minority OS) and don't have a spec of .NET in them

I think you have to disable the new search on about:config to be able to remove search engines

>>
>>45421466
It appears this was just an oversight. I don't believe firefox devs intended to remove keywords or the ability to remove search engines because keywords still work like before if you set them prior. If they wanted to kill it they would have.
>>
>>45421479
Imagine you're using windows: free as in hobo edition

Then they take a feature you used all the time and made it only accessible via cmd.exe. Their rationale? Having it in the main UI overwhelmed their feeble minded users (read: the extra code overwhelmed their lazy unpaid developers)

So if you complain about this reduced usability, do you have baby duck syndrome? Should you take to enjoying the long and ridiculous route? The regression to 1980?

No, you're being a reasonable person, as other modern software clearly has that feature in a nice place and has no problems with it. The developers are just idiots.

>>
Firefox occasionally glitches up and webpages are black, elements are missing, pages glitch and double when scrolling instead of displaying the content, images don't load when opened in a separate tab, general shittiness.

Firefox has progressively got shittier and shittier since 3.6. I fired up my old computer with XP and nearly shat bricks when I realized how fast and responsive firefox 3.6 was.

If html5 = MSE then no.

MSE has some bugs open yet so it's not ready yet to hit ff stable.

You'll only see up to 720p without MSE on youtube.

Take 15 minutes and look at the releases notes for all the latest versions.

>i dont see any reason to update

i dont know why I care about you updating. I dont really give a shit about what happens to your data or computer. I guess it just sickens me how there are literally plenty of people still on Firefox 3 for some god awful reasons, and others stuck on 15 and 18.

Does setting loop.throttled to false make it show up?
>>
>>45424422
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Loop/Load_Handling

Try changing loop.throttled value and restarting firefox this will get you another chance to get ff hello.

Also this is going to be enabled for all users soon they just want not to overload the service on launch.

Hey /g/

Tech Apprentice here. I'm planning on buying a GTX 980. Here's my current rig.

M4A88T-M Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 965
8GB DDR3
GTX 560 ti
WD 1TB Blue
EVGA 550W PSU

With that information can you fine folks help me determine if my GTX 980 will be bottlenecked by my current hardware?

I'm almost positive it will but I'm a Tech Noob so I'm reaching out.
>>

SSDs were still way over my price range at the time and I've done OK with 7200 RPM so far.
