Hello /g/, i'm a bit confused about how ethernet works on the Raspberry Pi (B+). I know it relies on the usb hub and so many people say that high internet speeds get the cpu to 100%, but what is the highest speed you can get on a RPi? If my internet is for example 7mbps, do i get 7mbps also on it? Thank you.

100mbps.

You sure? Many people on the internet complained about horrible speed connections, like 1 or 2 mbps

I get 4 MB/s on mine which is limited by my connection. Dunno how much higher my raspi can go.

I think i'm going to buy a Beaglebone just to be safe, shame it has not HD resolution, though.

Is there any micro computer out there that's actually cheap, <$60, stronger than rPi b+ and actually supported with drivers, community etc

i wanted to buy Banana Pro but people told me its GPU is useless, no drivers at all

So where do the opposites ends of the ethernet cables connect?

Beaglebone black rev C:

+more powerful
+better ethernet

-around 90$ (if you buy all the accessories)
-only 1 usb
-1280x1024

The ethernet is basically an ethernet-to-usb converter, so the traffic is limited by the cpu.
>>
>>45406497
is it possible to use it as desktop machine

nothing power hungry, just regular libreoffice and sometimes yt videos/1080p movies
>>
>>45406568
anyone?
>>
>>45406568
Yes of course, but you may need a compatible usb hub. Power efficiency: >3W
If you can spend just a little more, you should see the CubieTrack (more powerful and better overall connectivity).

i'm looking at all of these and banana pro seems like it's the best, check it out

only problem for me it seems it's still in software development

bad.

why
>>
>>45406782
no community support, chinese product, i suspect it has the same raspberry's issue with ethernet since it's a clone.
