Hey /g/ can you rate my PC build? I've never built a PC before and this is my first go at picking out the parts.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/hDJM6h

The video card is an AMD HD79703GB Radeon HD 7970 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16. For some reason it didn't show up on partpicker, which makes me think I fucked up the build.
>>
Anyone at all?
>>
Not bad at all, I would invest in at least a 64 GB SSD just for Windows and applications.
>>
>>45367387
how much is the 7970?

What's your budget OP?

Protip: look where it says Total
>>
>>45367486
It's 169 on Newegg

>>45367496
I'm trying to get the best out of about $700-$750
>>
>>45367504
He doesn't have the video card in there, nub. Also, a projected build doesn't always use the whole budget.

>>45367509

No.

Wait one.
>>
>>45367387
You'll need a largish case to fit that cooler at least 23cm wide
Source: same cooler
>>
>>45367537

lol, I wouldn't have assume he was too fucking stupid to include the card, I assumed he chose onboard video for whatever fucking reason. Damn, kudos anon.
>>
>>45367537
Can you give me another decent video card at that price?
>>
>>45367558
Wait what? I said that site didn't let me include the video card, if you read the fucking OP you'd know that.
>>
>>45367590
You're right, sorry I fucked up, I'm tired and need to go to bed, but still I like your build with everything so far.
>>
>>45367566
How about I give you a build?

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XMMbdC
>>
>>45367640
I'll definitely keep that one in mind, thanks. I like that SSD but is that processor and motherboard as good as mine?
>>
>>45367663
Not him, I think his build looks decent, but I can vouch for the reliability lf the FX-8350, aside from that the question you just asked is going to derail this thread if you seriously insist on a single answer.

Intel destroys AMD.

Fuck, you're right
>>
>>45367640

noob here, why processor > gpu?

I'm gonna pull the trigger on a build tomorrow and I need some confidence/advice since this is my first time, here's my current list.

>>
>>45367746
I'd like an answer to this too
>>
>>45367746
because that GPU is on a massive sale. Also, AMD CPUs haven't kept up so pairing an AMD processor with anything over a 270X is kind of a waste. R9 280/285 being in the $150 range and 280X at $200 means they get paired with the $210 i5.

Enjoy your 144Hz.

>Intel destroys AMD

Uses a single chosen comparison of convenience as foundation to this claim.

>impressed something that costs $139 scores lower in benchmarks over something that costs $209

AMD has nothing of relevance higher which is where his price range is. We're not splitting hairs with $50 processors. AMD stupidly went "moar cores" while Intel increased IPC.

If he wants a $300 PC that can't run anything released later than 2006, we can get him into an AMD. But with $750 with these sales he can afford an i5 to run modern games.
>>
>>45367932

Are you implying that an AMD FX-8350 can't run modern games? or are you just being stupid by presenting a hypothetical that has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do here since we know OP wasn't planning on a $300 build?
>>
>>45367957
It doesn't compare to the i5.
>>
>>45367857

How big of a difference is there between the 970 and the 280x? Again, I'm a complete novice but the 4gb vs 3gb difference scares me.
>>
>>45368199
It's reasonably slower.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1041?vs=1355

If you can swing the price (we're now $150 over your original build), the 290 has nearly identical performance to a 970.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XFqmWZ

That's a really sweet setup.
>>
>>45368199
The 970 is better, but you don't really have to worry about VRAM unless you plan on playing at 4k or using multiple screens.
