There are still people who refuse to use Ubuntu because it "looks shit" or "Unity sucks" and then installing Xubuntu, Kubuntu or Lubuntu and overwriting their entire installation just because they fail to realize that you can install any DE you like from the repos (and remove the one you've installed and don't want).

They are working on the new freya release, and itll be ready when its ready.
Calling it a clone or a skin doesnt do it justice. The devs actually think out and write their Applications in a uniform toolkit. Their applications remove a lot of junk like excessive menus and clutter, and are consistent in their form and function. The DE is smooth and clean.
Its well worth a try if you want a smooth linux based desktop.
