There you go, you fucking neckbeards.

Nice monitor, as long is it's IPS. Still rocking a pair of 1600x1200 IPS.
>>
Square monitor. Such innovation. How did they ever think of that.
>>
>>45284351
Ips sucks, low response time and backlight bleed and ips glow

first off
>old news

Second off
>not realizing that programs and applications have been developed with todays monitors in mind
>not realizing with sidebars and menus that widescreens are actually more useful than square screens

Why is /g/ full of luddites? If this was the 90's that monitor would be great. But guess what? Things change

Confirmed for TN panel

Ill always take a 1ms tn panel at 144hz with dark deep blacks over an ips with glow and light bleed issues.

>>
got a three hundred dorrar paycheck what monitor should i buy to replace my shitty 80 dorrar "old ancient"
>>
If I had a screen like this, I'd want an option to adjust the black bars. With a screen like this, I'd rather they just eliminate the bottom bar entirely and leave the top part black when playing 16:9 content. Honestly though, I would consider it.
>>
>>45284544
So would a vertical monitor be only for people with eyes stacked on on top of another?

kek.
>>
>>45284574

Just force the resolution to 16:9
>>
>>45284544

>tfw no cyclops gf
>>
>>45284628
If you did that it would probably just center the image on the screen.
>>
Best dual monitor setup is a 21:9 and a 1:1.
>>
>>45284574
Why the fuck would you even think about playing videos on this monitor? It's not targeted towards consumers like you. Stick with a 16:9 you dumb fuck.
>>
I think 1:1 is a fantastic idea...
Coders: do you really don't think that?
Man, I have one 16:9 IPS, and it sucks to open many terminals...
>>
>>45284659

With a traditional monitor sure, but who's to say they can't add an option into the panel's firmware?
>>
>>45284469
>B-b-but the framerate when I play 5 year old games and indieshit makes up for my shit colours!
>I also can't bear an extra 4ms of response time! I'm a pro gaymer don't you know?
Nah, fuck off with your poor colour, and terrible veiwing angles, and take the 16:9 aspect ratio with you.
>>
>>45284544
It's so you can display longer documents/have multiple things open at once and you move your head slightly up and down instead of playing tetris with your windows all day you tard.
Shocking I know but some people actally WORK at a computer instead of passively looking at one for entertainment.
>>
>>45284844
>discussing viewing angles
They only matter if you're trying to have other people look at your monitor, and they usually don't give a flying fuck about colour accuracy
>>
>>45284693
Not just videos, ANY 16:9 content. Like games for example. If this is your main desktop monitor, you'll end up doing some gaming on it, and how many games support 1920x1920? Probably only those that allow custom resolutions. You'll end up with 1920x1080 letterboxed or some horribly stretched mess. I honestly think it's a great idea though, I'd buy one just to try it out. This would probably be fucking incredible for reading manga.

We already got pretty close a decade ago with 1280x1024. Only needed another fifth.

But does it have Pivot functionality?
>>
I like how they still use OS X 9 in their images. I totally agree, Yosemite's look is shit.
>>
>>45284333
It's going to have to cost a good amount less than 4K to make it worth while
>>
>>45285120
They're using dock image resources from 10.9, because they haven't updated their "stock desktop" templates, you dingus. It's not like Apple where those details actually matter.
>>
>>45284469
>TN with dark deep blacks
lol
>>
>>45284962
Viewing angles matter when you have more than 1 screen.

Also, TN viewing angles on a larger display are so fucking terrible that even when staring dead center at the thing the colors in the corners and on the sides are going to be off. Fucking terrible shit.

I do admit at 120Hz would be lovely, but then again at 2560x1440 or 2560x1600 you will not be able to maintain that sort of performance even with something like 2 980s in all games, so I'd rather stick to a solid 60FPS with much better colors and viewing angles that I enjoy no matter what I do instead of 120-144FPS in old games.
>>
>>45284333
I would love to have that as a secondary screen, it looks really useful for that.
>>
ill just leave this here for all of you fools:

I buy very high end graphics to be able to spin my monitor around and keep the image stable for a reason.

Yes, because you're going to be doing so much gaming with a square monitor.
>>
I'd rather have 1920x1440 than this disgusting square shit
>>
>>45287755
I dunno the full specifics but as far as I know, VA isn't as good as IPS with color accuracy, but is pretty close, and is far superior to TN in many aspects. The blacks in particular are good from what I've heard.
>>
>>45287755

Not even close, they're just slightly less shitty then TN

>>
>>45284544
This monitor is as dumb as the high refresh rate fags, the human eye can't see more than 30fps, or more than 16:9, or more than 1080p
>>
>>45287755
It depends, there are plenty of 6-bit E-IPS panels out there and then you have 10-bit VA 240hz panels that came out last year
>>
Is there something wrong with my eyes? That monitor doesn't look like a perfect square.

IPS monitor here. I can still see that
>>
>>45289737
yeah that is kinda fun for xraying stuff
>>
>>45284333

Does the stand allow changing the angle? I'd like to be able to turn it vertically so I could have a 1920x1920 monitor.
>>
So, anyone read the fuck link...

It's not for gaymer, it's not for designers.
So, don't need fast response, correct color, angle of view, and super-resolutions.
The motive of this is for "better suited to writers, coders or CAD who require many items on the screen at once, often side by side."
>>
>>45289737
xgamma -gamma .1
Now you can see that on IPS.

It is a mistake to include peripheral vision when trying to justify these sorts of decisions. Both the region of your view where stereopsis occurs, as well as the fovea are very nearly perfect circles.

why are all you neckbeards replying to this obvious shill thread?
>>
>>45289620
You're accustomed to widescreen panels.

The monitor is a few millimeters taller than it is wide, as well, to make room for the buttons on the lower bezel.
>>
>>45290030
We only have so much area that we can see, anything over 16:9 is stupid because that is the range of a humans actual eyesight
