Aren't the white Amazon Basics rebranded eneloops?
Real eneloops are quite hard to get were I live

probably, but you want to see what you're using the batteries for. High drain (camera flashes) would be better off with higher capacity eneloops while low drain would be better with the 2013 Panasonic Eneloop

These are the ones I'm looking at/considering

You can charge Eneloops with a generic charger.
>>
Get Ni-MH batteries. Eneloops are only useful in very specific situations (notably the situation where you have batteries gone unused for long periods of time).
If the period between you charging batteries and using them is less than a year, don't get eneloops.
It's marketing.

What about 9V blocks?

Stop being such newfags and enjoy the glory that is 18650
If you have any old laptop batteries, rip them open. Full of 18650s
If your neighbour has a Tesla, rip the battery on the bottom open in the middle of the night, and harvest those sweet, sweet 18650s

i have an old Thinkpad X21 battery. What can i salvage from it?
>>
is $13 a good price for a charger and 4 AA eneloops?
>>
All batteries are rechargable. Buying the ones that say rechargable on them is a scam.

These, I think.

The amazon basics (2nd generation eneloops) also are decent for their price, depending on where you live, but not quite as much a deal.

Related question:

Where can I get assuredly good CR2032 batteries? Ordering brand names online gets me knockoffs. Picking them up at Brick & Mortar stores they're all old and fizzle after a couple of weeks.

>Get Ni-MH batteries. Eneloops are only useful in very specific situations (notably the situation where you have batteries gone unused for long periods of time).
Normal NiMh discharge rather quickly.

Some "high capacity" batteries I had self-discharged to 60% capacity after like a month. Most are at 80% or so after a month.

In low-powered or usually off applications (like, IDK, a LED lamp), that just means your NiMh battery self-discharges far more than you using it does. It's highly inconvenient and inefficient.

NiMh definitely move to eneloop-like batteries (low self-discharge / ready to use) for that reason now...

>>45280498
I think buying them cheap from China at $2 per 10 or whatever rather than good is the solution for most.

>>45280477
Recharging alkaline batteries or random lithium primaries is tricky. There is no scam involved.

LSD NiMh are the way to go.
>>
>>45280452
Depends on the charger and the generation / type of eneloops... but probably nah.

It's typically the old eneloops with a crappy charger at $13. I recall only the newest one is halfway decent.

But you might want to get a decent charger anyways.

How can one hack some rechargeable AA batteries into old electronics i.e. iPods with dead batteries.

(Of course, Li-Ion / Li-poly rechargeables also are fine, but they are very obviously rechargeable anyways).

>>45280609
They won't fit. But I guess you could combine them to approximate the same voltage/ampage as the original device had... or use a bit more electronics to GET the same ampage / voltage.

It's too much work for most, though. Most would, if anything, buy a similar replacement battery pack, typically li-ion.

And most wouldn't buy Apple if they ever intend to service anything, they're about the crappiest devices for doing service out there.

I just realized how weird batteries are, if you showed them to people 200 years ago they couldnt even imagine what their use might be.
>>
>>45280667
You could connect the two ends with metal and create an electrical fire
>>
>>45280695
that would be like magic to them.

Well, we also need lamps and radios and speakers and remotes and smoke alarms and laser distance meters and stuffs and things to get much use from them...
>>
>>45280641
My idea was to chainload like 8 AA rechargeable batteries and tape them on the back of my iPod 5G.
>>
>>45280705
I've had a iTouch 2g and that one was an absolute horror to repair the battery in.

But perhaps the 5G is easier, good luck to you.

I'm not sure you need 8 of them, though. Typically, it'd be more like 3-4 AAA or something.
>>
>>45280702
thats why batteries must look so strange to them, all these gadgets are made for human hands, they give some semblance of function in their appearance often. At least they look human.

but batteries are just these weird alien looking artifacts
>>
>>45280705
>chainload
What?
>eight of them
So your plan is what? To feed your iPod twelve volts? Or six? Perhaps only one and a half?

Either way I don't think you've considered this fully.
