/g/uys, I need a new laptop and I've been thinking about a thinkpad yoga, because of muh digitizer.

Try to convince me to buy something else

Also, thinkpad general

Get an x220, don't get a yoga.

get a x220 and give me all the money that you saved from not buying a yoga to me.

Comparable specs? Especially processing power, because I'm an engineer and I need my processing power

I just installed Windows Vista on my T60p. I have an important program that requires Windows to run, driver support in Windows 7/8 for the T60p is pretty bad and Windows XP is... Windows XP.

Rate how retarded I am.

Will the keyboard and palmrest get scratched in tablet mode?
>>
>>45268653
You can get the x220t with an i7-2620M. It's basically as good as the i7-4600U of the highest end yoga, just a little worse in power consumption.

The x220t can take up to 8GB of ram, and 16GB in some cases, and you'll still get an ips display, just not at 1080p.

In the end it's up to you, but most people would probably recommend the x220t over a yoga because of it's reliability and build quality.

How bad is the yoga's build quality/reliability, because I don't really care for legacy thinkpad shit (for example, I don't mind the new trackpad), but I would actually prefer a 1080p+ display.

Also, are there any other brands that make decent laptops with digitizers?

There is Fujitsu.

Is an x200 tablet worth it for 180 €?

Where's the best place to grab a thinkpad in the UK?

I've been checking ebay for decent x220s but I can't find any with an IPS screen.
>>
>>45269131
Pretty much only ebay. Sourcing one can take a while.

My SSD came today for my X60. I'll be upgrading some hhd/ram and installing Trisquel later.
I gave it a good clean around the case and keyboard, removed ALL the stickers. It had XP and Vista stickers along with the others; windows id key, intel processor...

how come my battery is still shit, it looks good on paper. get maybe 3hrs , x201, using tlp also
>>
>>45271266
The indicated capacity of the battery may not be correct, it has to be calibrated every once and awhile.

and then
>Linux
>>
>>45271292
how do you do that.
>>
>>45271319
I'm pretty sure there is a way to do it with TLP, but I'm not sure. Basically it just entirely discharges and then recharges the battery.

Haven't used Linux on a ThinkPad in at least 7 months.
>>
>>45271359
could I work if I put it outside over night might do the trick?
>>

Linux is known to be a massive energy hog.

Just it's use of timers, if I understand correctly, attributes to most of this consumption.
>>
>>45271377
I get the same on windows, So its not linux
>>
>>45268597
Yoga is best laptop. Good screen without some retard unecassary discrete GPU. Foldable slim as hell, good battery ssd. Don't listen to these autists, its great. Use it for uni note. Tent mode is really cool too. Use it with a nice poker keyboard (modded to bluetooth)and a mouse when I travel. Eya better than having to put a keyboard in front of laptops keyboard.
>>
>>45271385
If you're using windows occasionally you can use lenovos power monitoring program to see your battery's actual capacity vs it's max capacity.
>>

Just bought a t540 (paycheck yay), thinking of selling my 2048*1536 IPS t60. Anybody here knows what a good pricepoint would be? $150 maybe? This resolution on a t60 is apparantly really uncommon so can't even find any completed eBay listings for this thing.

NT5.2 (Server 2003 only, XP 64-bit support terminated) and NT6.0 are the only sane MS choices left.
When the support for these OS's end, anything workstation related on Windows is no more.

Daily reminder that Vista/Server 2008 still has better CPU performance/utilization, better Superfetch algorithms for system with lots of RAM and less bugs, that will never be fixed than Windows 7, Server 2008 R2, Windows 8 and so on.
>>
>>45272037
Is there a way to pirate Server 2008? (or even R2 2008 or 2012)
>>
>>45272061
Daz loader, just like Vista and 7.
>>
>>45272083
Mind you, the differences between Vista and Server 2008 are non-existant when using the exact same services. Well, x86 version of Enterprise Server supports 64gigs of ram with PAE, just like 2000 Datacenter and Server 2003 Enterprise.
