Pretending like your buyers remorse for getting a Micro ATX/Mini iTX build makes you superior in the face of true computers
>>
I got a micro atx, it fucking sucks
Harder to work with, can't put in more ram because of my heatsink, can't use a second GPU because it would cover up all the sata ports
>>

I was 12 years old. Having my cousins birthday party at Mc Donalds. I went to the potty. There where Ronald grab me, he took me to maintenance room. He said there will be a special dessert but not for everyone, it was limited. I didn't believe him, my parents always warned me about strangers but he took me anyways. While my friends were having fun outside, he raped me 4 times in the maintenance closet. He fed me with his sperm, he said it was "mcsemen". He made me swallow all of it. When he was done I was crying, couldn't sit on my ass for weeks. My parents didn't believe me a clown raped me. I never go to Mc Donalds, even now. I only eat from Burger King.

Swore by mATX for years, but finally needed a full tower with room for drives, extra GPU and the tower under the desk with access to USB really suits my needs.

Yes, mATX can do CF/SLI but mobo's with a PCI lane space and cases with 5 slots are rare and I don't really have space on my desk for a PC due to multi monitors.

My wet dream is a micro ITX build with dual 980s (making sure proper air circ), a big SSD (no HDD, so portable-ish), a nice 80+ gold, sound card, and Broadwell, in a brushed case if possible (as minimal as possible). Also a liquid CPU cooler if the radiator fits.

Basically, as much power and luxury condensed into as small a package as possible.

No, main reason for SSD portability-wise is not weight but the fact that they're less fragile than rotating drives.

I have a similar thing going with my PS3 (in a small vertical space in my table's side), and I had to figure out a way to vent it unobstructed (it now faces outward with the vent; cables-out). I've had simillar issue while putting my old PC (about 5 years ago) into a special pc "slot" in my desk.
It really did look nice and didn't really overheat too much during the winter. But then the GTX 260 i had in it somehow went ballistic and went up 130C,meleted the mobo, and set the table on fire.

As much as i've bought a new table with enough space to keep the pc rather chill, i keep a small fire extinguisher in the living room near me just in case.

weird fact is that somehow my HDD,RAM,and processor were somehow alive after all of that.

Micro-ITX motherboards have been too temperamental from my experience and I prefer to have more expansion options for future upgrades.

I have only had a few Micro-ATX motherboards which were actually reliable and did work well for me, but they often fell short on features not only on the hardware, but also the BIOS too.

Normal ATX motherboards have worked better for me in terms of reliability, features and general performance so I won't be down sizing anytime soon.

As for recent upgrade I went with a Gigabyte Z97 G1.Sniper and Intel i7-4790K which went well with my other hardware and was a good upgrade from my Gigabye Z68XP-UD3P and Intel i7-2700K.

Processing performance isn't much better, but the general connectivity (USB and SATA 3) and sound is much better.

The mobo had built in backing plates so installing it was not too hard, but god they are worth it.

If your mobo supports PCIe M.2 then just wait for the new ADATA ones that should have 10Gb/s+.

Couldn't remember the exact number but it's pretty high.

I was considering compressing my build into a small portable build as my Christmas gift to myself. My question is, assuming you shutdown the PC properly, turn off the power supply, and wait a minute, is it still safe to frequently move a PC around? For some weird reason my instincts are telling me it'll reduce the lifespan of my PC or fry it or something.

Also, anyone with a EVGA Hard-on build? It's so pretty and compact, but if I'm gonna get rid of my water-cooling and buy a new mobo I'd like to hear some recommendations.

Thanks, all I needed to hear to pass on that shit. My stupid 780Ti already gives me coil whine with my HX850. Could be my assrock mobo causing it as well.

Any input on the first part though? If it's dangerous to move a PC say, once a week, I'd rather just wait and make an entirely seperate mini-PC somewhere down the line.
>>
>>45263056
You forgot about the idiots spending 500$+ on an overheating graphics card that will be deprecated next year.

Mini ITX master race for low-tier.
Micro ATX master race for mid-tier.
>>
>>45275990
It isn't a problem. Think of laptops - they get moved around all the time with no issues.

The only thing you might have to worry about is a big tower heatsink or big video card - if these are not well secured and you drop your case there are some pretty big cantilever forces there
>>
>>45275897

>is it still safe to frequently move a PC around?

If everything is secured properly, it shouldn't be an issue.

Your biggest worry is probably the graphics card, which can exert a lot of torque on the mobo if the case is given rough treatment. Consider getting a bracket or something to secure the cantilever end in place.

Also, get yourself a set of geargrips. Thank me later.

Ive had three screens sice the 570s came out and I bought 2.

Need to replace them now and waiting for the 980ti.

The real question is with one display port can I get away with one card for awhile?

My 570s wont go into surround anymore I think they on their last legs.

Is there a cheap, small, semi portable case for micro atx? I have an existing micro atx build I want to throw in a smaller, console-like case just as an arcade/emulator box. I kinda like cube shaped cases.. I looked at the Node 804 and it seems a little too big. Actually, if anyone owns the Node 804 I'd appreciate any pics with stuff to scale next to it.

Hadron Air's PSU is very silent actually. All you need is to lubricate the fan. Takes 30 seconds to do.

So i don't have to make my own M-ATX thread:

Hey, /g/ about 16 months or so ago I built a new desktop, however, being younger and more retarded I bought a fuck huge NZXT case. Now the case is great and all that however I have moved cities since and my PC has been gathering dust in my parents house for 4 months.

Now my problem is that I moved into uni halls of residence (inb4 underage, im 24 and a "mature" student) so my room is tiny, and I'm wanting to bring my PC with me when I go back after xmas. But I don't want to transport my huge case (with everything in it) for fear of crushing myself and taking up loads of room so I'm wanting to (down/up)grade to a Micro ATX case but I have some questions:

According to PCpart picker http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/8scJTW (my current build, I have everything from my current desktop there plus a M-ATX motherboard and case) there are no clashes with parts, is this site 100% accurate?

And when i get my new motherboard will I need to re-install windows due to their being a different bios? right?

Also hows the airflow + temps on the prodigy?

Sorry for the long post, but it's vital I don't fuck up.

Some people need more than 2 pci devices anon, that's why.

Raid card, gpu, network links, audio, etc.
Life isnt all just a gpu and cpu for everyone.
