>not wanting the god-tier, simple, professional, functional Win95 style
Microsoft has done a lot of stupid things over the years but they nailed it with the Win95 UI. If you want a bunch of swooshy animations and pointless transparency and other "look, we have a GPU, therefore we must use it for something" type of shit, KDE and Gnome are over that way.

make mimized windows on the taskbar flat.
there you go.
>>

no icons on desktop, put panel on top and mod it with transparency/ background pic, install dockbar x, plank or docky
>>
Dunno m8 I like xfce's looks

I like numix for how easy it is to make it fit with every wallpaper (change highlight bg color)
>>
>>44339416
How did you make it look like that?

Install KDE

Or GNOME. GNOME3 is going to be the default in the next distro.

You may wail and gnash your teeth over there -->

N.B. I use KDE. It's fine. It's better than Gnome and XFCE.

And Thunar is awful compared to Dolphin or Konqueror

I'd be more concerned with getting it to stop being BROKEN.

Xfce's multi-head support is BROKEN, and yet whenever anybody brings up the fact that Xfce development is dying the fanboys always say stuff like "maybe it's just complete" or "don't fix what isn't broken".

because you shouldn't
i recently switched to i3 but xfce is my go-to desktop environment.
>>
>>44339575

Be creative, xfce is customizable as fuck
>>
>>44339698

Are you dense? Xfce is broken. It's broken and it's very likely it won't be fixed because it has no developers.

Non-trivial software is *always* broken in some way.

Antergos came pre-riced, and tweaking lodsa settings (not rally, but just mess around, fun way to learn stuff).

>>44339718
Might be, but I haven't experienced any issues. I'm not a fanboy, I just needed something light and fast that won't overheat my craptop. I'm no resilient to switch DE/WM if something fits my needs better. lxqt has been eyeballing my sack lately.

I barely use mine, also nothing is wrong with xfce start menu

very easily. seriously.first start by changing wallpaper and just adding random gtk2 theme.
than get rid of the icons and workspace boxes unless you enjoy using. i wasted my time with this. but there you go. the perfect answer to a stupid question.

Yours looks really nice. I like hhow you have the top section. Are those workspaces? wasn't aware you could add text to them if so. ohsnap font looks good sometimees with certain styles.

I prefer openbox or others these days. but xfce is by far my fav DE
