FOSS
Completely distributed system
You have to participate in the "swarm" to be able to upload pictures
The more disk space you allocate to it the bigger the files you can post (with a reasonable max limit)
After a while new user should be forced to lurk a month before starting posting
Alternatively, the post cooldown decreases after every day of posting, starting from very high (10+ minutes) to low (30 seconds)
Any user can create new boards, but they have to be accepted by some percentage of participant nodes to be enabled

This would never work but I like to dream.

Someone who thinks "Usenet" is the binaries newsgroups sold through Astraweb detected.

It's a flooding mesh network. An alter-usenet running over Tor would be immune to weakest-link central server attacks.

State of the mesh: http://top1000.anthologeek.net/ .. The top 50 or so sites are pay2usenet sites that're highly ranked because of all the binary traffic they horde, but the rest of Usenet is well distributed by the remaining 3000+ sites.

Here we go...

Forced Anonymous site-wide.

Any known plugin, script, or extension adding names or trips or IDs results in being blocked from even viewing the boards, and a three day IP ban.

Hit up Google, M$, Apple, whoever else and try to get them to share their list of CP MD5s with me; anyone who posts an image with an MD5 to match is insta-banned, their post is removed from the public view and copied over to a special pseudo-thread feed-type thing which is sent to the FBI with the timestamp, IP address of the poster, etc, etc. The original copy of the post is deleted as soon as the evidence is sent, so I'm not hosting cp.

Keep a regexp file like the one I currently use for /b/ with 4chan X, and a similar MD5 file. Any new threads whose image or text hits any of these filters basically gets a "say something original" message and it fails to post.

Additional filtering to identify standard bullshittery of adding special characters between things to elude filters.

You can create a free account with a username and password, but no matter what your name will always be Anonymous. Why an account? Incentivize good reporting...if someone reports an illegal or non-rule-abiding post, they get a "star". Stars or star counters for higher numbers show up as a small sidebar or footer by posts you make while logged in, but you're still anonymous. Frivolous/wrong reports can result in you losing stars instead; stars are manually given or removed based on the report feed.

No moderators other than me, not even my friends or site veterans. ESPECIALLY not either of those.

Only specific malware/shilling URLs blocked; other commercial spam controlled by people's lust for stars as their only identifying mark of authority and ascension; there are no upvotes.

Rules in next post.
>>
>>44031807
Exactly like 4chan but only 4 boards

/b/
/cake/
/g/
/sm/
>>
>>44036214
Oh, I forgot, about file uploads. All major (or just really good) video and audio formats supported as embedded, 2 stars awarded for reporting an illegal video (stars are to the fastest reporter only, to encourage expediency...people posting from two IPs to get themselves stars by playing both ends will, when detected, lose all of their stars and have their account and all IPs used banned, even if they were proxies).

Also, thread death. Any thread created will be present for 60 minutes initially. Any thread which gets 5 or more comments (excluding any made by the OP) will last for 24 more hours, and 404 immediately after that. Any thread with two hours or less left will be highlighted in red so people know to make a new thread and link people from the old thread.

Each post can have up to five files uploaded of any type the website can handle, mix and match freely, with a filesize limit of 50 MB. There will need to be an assload of ads all over the sides of the pages to pay for this. This is fine, people who can't install Adblock deserve it anyways.

Rule 0: Don't be willfully stupid. Willful stupidity, that is, an intentional, delusional departure from or rejection of critical thinking for the purposes of continuing to shitpost about some delusional opinion will result in a permaban. At my sole discretion, cry moar.

Rule 1: Don't post IRL cp, CGI/2D cp ("loli" etc, inb4 spergs), IRL media of violent human/animal abuse of any kind, or anything related to furries, Homestuck, or MLP anywhere on the site. Permaban will result.

Rule 2: Don't post sexual stuff in non-sexual threads. Don't post traps or trannies in threads not specifically for them. Don't post your fetish in non-related threads.

Rule 2.5: The exception is if you check the Spoiler thumbnail box.

Rule 3: Spoilerize NSFW OP images, just the OP images, so people can view catalog and not have to see your dick.

Rule 4: Lurk moar, it's never enough.

>decentralized twitter like 4chan
a couple of guys on #/g/punk were working on something like this a few months ago; I doubt they've made much progress though.

iirc the basic idea was to have new boards created on what's #trending. So, if this theoretical site existed a week ago there would've been boards for #thefappening and #gamergate. They would act similarly to how boards do now; the only difference is that instead of threads being ephemeral, the boards themselves are too. Threads would still prune as they should, but the least active a board is the likelihood of itself pruning increases. Users can filter boards by region, but "worldwide" trending boards would be what is displayed upon first loading the site.

Everyone is anonymous by default; namefagging is optional but it must be used with a tripcode. "User Pages" would exist but only for tripcode users; their purpose would be to archive every post made under that particular trip. The reason for this is that it should curtail unnecessary tripcode usage.

So basically, "hashchan" would act sorta like a combination of 8chan and Overchan with a drop of bird shit on top.

>>
>>44031807
I'd implement a faggot-OP filter. Therefore, nobody would be able to post.
>>
I'd build one that is an API.
Just an API.
Text, image, get, thread id, board id, and date are retrievable.

You build the interface. You sort the posts. You sort the threads. Mods have a special prebuilt one on-site with read/write features and IP banning.

Writing a front end to 4chan's API is some entry level shit. It's not hard, just time consuming. Not even that depending on what level of polish you want.
>>
>>44032843
Why not link their IP address?

So if they change their ip address to avoid a ban then they have to wait a month
>>
Why not create a 4chan where you can choose what boards you want on your site, which are from other 4chans?

You could have /g/ from 4chan, a board you like from 420 chan as well, and a board from operator chan.

Actually, I wouldn't be so opposed to an invite system if the invite were basically a registration code and that's it. Ooh, for instance, for every five stars you accumulate, you get two invite codes to give to whoever or shill for bitcoins over. But once signed up, they have no link to you that they know of, the code no longer works and gets taken off your list, everyone still posts as anonymous.

weibo? what are its quirks?

Plenty of people use trips so they can go back to the yotsuba archives and see their posts; there's no real point in denying imageboards' lack of "true" ephemeral content. Instead, why not make it a feature? I think it'd further draw the line between the narcissistically inclined and prominent figures within a given community.
>>
>create an entirely new Nicaraguan soap opera image board from scratch

I'm far too lazy for that. Plus, I suck at server/form scripting.

There's a lot of people reacting to limitations moot put on 4chan without considering WHY they were implemented.

As a reminder: the goal is to nurture a good community, not have as many features as possible. It's quite common for nice-to-have features to actually HARM the community.

Also, the back end matters the least - focusing on it is normally wasting your time.

I have good news and bad news. The good news is that this thread inspired me to start messing around with web coding again and reserve a URL with a special custom top level domain. I even started planning out the database in I forget which normal form, probably about 2nd normal form, in a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets as databases bad, spreadsheets as database layout visuals good.

The bad news is that I'm currently struggling somewhat with a fairly basic PHP self-submit form. I haven't much talent or experience with web dev, and not that much time to work on thisproject, but I'll give it a go anyways.

I'm not one of the devs, so I don't know how much thought was put into it; I'm just reiterating what they told me.
I guess I also forgot to mention that the "user pages" would be public to everyone.
>Do you get how narcissism works?
Narcissists just want to show the world how amazing(ly obnoxious) they are. If the community had an archive of everything that someone has said under a tripcode, why wouldn't you think they'd be heavily scrutinized? Part of the reason why tripfags derail threads so much is because newfags take their bait; that or trolls being trolls, but I like to think it's the former. Much like twitter profiles, you'd have treat yourself as a public figure when using a tripcode lest the community digs through your post history.

>The bad news is that I'm currently struggling somewhat with a fairly basic PHP self-submit form.
Don't use PHP?
>>
>>44045828
But I'm worse at Perl and don't know Python or Javascript let alone AJAX, or Python either. I'll be learning some Python later this semester, though.

Basically, PHP is the easiest and most familiar web language I know.

I guess I could always do it in Scala and just take forever but make it nice. Easy enough to rewrite in another language once the structure is there, in any case.

>>
>>44031807
I would track down IP addresses and make sure that the IP address has atleast a week of activity in the boards before letting it post.

So basically, going to be making a private phone app image board.

What if /g/ makes an imageboard that is only accessible through the private phone app, newfag-proofing would include a week of lurking before postan bla bla bla.

Then access to imageboards would have to be code based like channels and servers on IRC.

I'm spewing ideas everywhere but I think this is a good idea, I just need to reconstruct it properly so I can describe it in detail

Right, which is why I'm using it.

I ended up getting the form to work and even do some neat extras before I slept, so I feel more confident now.

>>44048364
Now this is lateral thinking.

But how I would do it is:
Beside each post is a "dildo" button. Dildos can be taken as a sign of either approval or disapproval and would have no real purpose, wouldn't be actual upvotes or downvotes.
Each user (by IP probably) has 10 dildos they can throw per day, without rollover. Dildos amassed appears as a visual representation of a given size/shape of dildo, with mouseover text saying exactly how many dildos the dildo represents.

>>44048595
>accounts required
>"you CAN create a free account"

>>44048750
So fuck off to any given forum. Oh, what's that, you don't want to? Forums are absolute shit despite embracing pseudonymity? It's almost like "personal reputation" is some medieval voodoo bullshit to get people to not express themselves originally, and objective, impersonal, anonymous blacklisting is an impartial and holistic solution to repetitive shitposting and stuff that will get a website taken down, without quelling interesting and original thought or burying it under the premature judgement of superficial, inconsistent cultural pedantry. Get rekt fgt.

Protip: Shii thought of nothing original.

Bring back the original 4chan and ban anyone that steps out of line.
Actually get mods that actively moderate, not sit and shit over each other in IRC and only listen to reports. (not all of them mind you, but most!)
Snacks was pretty much the only one to actually tell moot to get fucked and ban whoever the fuck he wanted for even minor things. THAT is what 4chan needs. Sorely. Not fucking passive faggots.

Force IDs on everyone.
This site was never intended for anonymous discussion. Fuck you Shii. Stay the fuck on your wapanese boards. Cunt.

Pay to make more than 2 threads in a period. You can reply as many times as you want though. Just like my /f/.. ish.

Ban any weeaboo, westaboo, and any other retards that shitpost. Constantly.
Every single time moot has wanted to bring back the old 4chan, he and the moron brigade have ALWAYS given up.
I dunno about you, but I would personally have a fucking lot of fun banning retards all day every day.
Ban any new 4chan culture. It is shit. You are shit for liking it.

Bring back /5/.
Make a /dev/ board, kill /gd/, /3/ and other dev boards and move them there. This is what EVERYONE wanted, but instead the fucking moron made a board that was against his own board request policies in that he wouldn't make boards with little scope, that he would make them cover as much as possible.
/dev/ would have been a godsend for content creation on this site. From VN to games to music to animation.
Nope, let's fragment the community even more.
