Not really, brand new they cost as much as MacBooks, they're only worth it if you're buying an used one. Build quality has diminished in the newer generations. Older ThinkPads are pretty compatible with Linux, some models can even run Coreboot.

how to avoid razorburn:
1. shave legs in full bathtub under warm water. no soap etc necessary.
2. rub legs dry with towel and rub hard (this is very important, so the very uppermost thin layer of your skin gets rubbed off and reappearing hair cannot grow in.
3. add plenty of lotion
4. repeat steps two and three daily after showering
5. tada! lovely silken smooth legs without razorburn!

personally i don't use my depilator, and a own a pretty decent one. but the pain really isn't worth it and also depilating takes ages compared to shaving. but i guess it's all question of personal preferences, and hair regrows definitely much later if you pluck it out rather then shave it.
