I only have experience with HexChat, but I really like it. Customizable, open source, clean interface, what more could you want?
Used xChat before it went pay bullshit for the windows version. Moved over to HydraIRC which was really nice but sadly it's no longer supported.
Recently started using HexChat.
I typically only frequent twitch streams, speedrunslive, and a plethora of channels on Quakenet IRC.

I use nettalk the most it just works well from a fresh install I put it on all my computers but if I want something more customized like on my home pc then I use HexChat

How you go about discovering channels? I only go to channels of shared interest as certain programming languages and text editors.
Is there an irc client for windows that has the channel bar in the top with shrinking/expanding channel tabs depending on the amount of channels like mirc?
