So I tried audio in Venom today, seems cool and all, but I must ask, will there be less of an audio delay in future updates? Is that part of the core constantly being updated, or is this what it will be like?
It is alpha, it is constantly getting bug fixes.

You have to register for Skype too. There's no difference between creating an account for Skype or creating an XMPP (jabber) account through software like Jitsi.

Why did you leave out the "install client" for Tox? You could have also left it out for Jitsi, because it installs automatically through the package manager on Linux.
The only extra step between those two is the "register account" step.

It encrypts it automatically by default, without any user interaction, at least it does so with XMPP with Jitsi.

uTox doesn't require an install on Linux or Windows. Just run the executable or binary and you're good to go.
Don't even pretend that Jitsi isn't a clusterfuck of noise with its Java dependency. You can't seriously argue that Jitsi/XMPP is more user friendly/idiot proof than most Tox clients.

Most people that just use their machines for Facebook/Skype with their relatives don't have Java installed.
Try walking a friend through the entire process of installing Java, Jitsi, making an XMPP account and then configuring it properly. XMPP doesn't even support video so you'd need to set up some other account for that too.
For uTox you run it, send your ID, and can use video and audio right away. And it's all encrypted.

I tried my best, a while ago. I posted a well written report of why I did not like a feature that was in the mockup on /gd/. I was met with criticism, and no resolution. Maybe I was wrong about it, although I fear that the designers are making a product for themselves, and not creating it for the general public. With this said, I believe the UI is the most important thing - if it doesn't look as good as Skype, there will be no adoption. That is why I do not like Tox.

Alright guys, I wanted to try out those Tox clients and went with uTox for wangblows and Venom for gnu/lunix.
However, I'm facing a strange issue. I'm looping back my audio to the input device while being in an audio call with a linux peer.
Linux peer receives the audio, but I could say it's played two times at once. There's a quiet audio stream (almost unhearable) and after 1/3sec proper audio stream comes in.
Is this happening for anyone else?

so i tried tox today grabed the binary for fedora fro mthe site, it installed venom with no problems.
now where are the configuration options? i mean i understand that this is made with casusls in mind but i some images i choose where to save some are displayed inline and saved god knows where.
also i have no sound even though it's said to work, i actually think this is an issue with mostly fault to my system but since i don't have a way to configure the audio i don't know
also i never understood how tox is stopping other users from impersonating me. anyone can explain?

Your cryptographic key has two parts, one (secret) is known only to you, and another (public) is used to identify you in net network. When a pair of users talk they combine their own secret key with other persons public one, resulting in a shared key that's only know to them both, but nobody else. Would you guys rather a die-cut sticker or a square? A die cut would be something like pic related, where it's contoured to the logo, it's a smaller footprint, and I think gives a better look to it, but majority wins here.

I know it's /g/ and I'm technically a stranger to most people, but would people emailing me an address to ship stickers to sound like a sane idea? I'm buying the stickers to send to people but I'm not sure what the best course of action is.

Groupchats are under a major (and lazy) rewrite. The way we see it, you have a random temporary id generated for each groupchat. There is a possibility of anonymous PMs between groupchat users (i.e. they know who they are in groupchat, but they communicate without learning their "real" ids). Another feature we are planning is the ability for two peers to expose their real ids to each other under mutual consent (i.e. you want to make contact with a person you know through groupchat), after that they can just communicate as two regular clients.
