Hey tech support I got a streaming issue for you to solve. When streaming when I switch my monitor input from DVI to HDMI to see my console on my monitor the stream sound/video both become really laggy and fucked and cannot be corrected without switching back to dvi to readd the camera to xsplit.

When using a console with component cables there is no issue but when using HDMI tons of issues.

Someone with knowledge on the workings of this witchcraft tell me how retarded I am. Also I made you a pretty paint picture showing the setup.

Getting a 1440p @ 96hz monitor for gaming.

Replace HDMI cable, if you have one.
Also try a different monitor with HDMI input. That way you can exclude possible causes until you find the actual cause.

I'm trying to get ye olde Microsoft LifeCam to work in Windows 8, though it's not compatible. I read that I should run the installation in Windows 7 Compatibility Mode, which sounds sensible, so I did that but I got an error message saying that a later version of LifeCam software is installed and to uninstall that before I can install this new deal in compatibility mode. So I delete the LifeCam folder in program files, and the one in program files(x86) and a search for "lifecam" gives no results anywhere, bar the installer. Sadly, the same error message is given every time I try, even if I delete and re-download the installer. I don't know what kind of cheeky kunt this error message is telling me porky pies and I don't know how to make it stop, is there some sorcery I can use or should I just buy a non-fossilised webcam that's meant to be used with win8?

I don't know what format it is, but my external drive is formatted in ntfs and i can access it just fine, so ive got the right packages if it is ntfs.
I tested the SD card in a camera, it works fine, so its just the SD port on my PC?
How can i replace that?
>>
>>43128996
>How can i replace that?
Assuming it is just a 3.5" or 5.25" front panel connected over USB you can buy those from anybody.
>>
>>43128951
The signal goes to the foremost video output of the GPU. Something like DVI>HDMI>DP. So if you have another monitor hooked up, the signal will go to that one instead
>>
>>43129017
This. I have a monitor connected over DP and one over HDMI and the DP monitor does not come up until after I finished booting.
>>
>>43128996

I wouldn't assume that it's the SD port until you've tested it with other SD cards...But, if it is, it would be fairly easy to replace...Just take your computer apart, remove it, and put a new one in the same way you took the old one out.

Is there any way to use the old SetPoint for the G700s? Not digging this new software at all. I mean the interface looks nice and it has some okay features, but none that I really need, it dropped some stuff I actually used, and the profile switching isn't nearly as reliable which kills it for me. >>
>>43129097
Better viewing angles is the only consistent difference.
>>
>>43129194
In practice though everyone views their monitor from an angle though. On a TN monitor even if you're looking at it straight on you are seeing the top and the bottom at an angle so the picture will be inconsistent.

>>
Is it ok to use mosh?
>>
>>43129234
I read that as "sd to usb cucumber" at first glance.
>>
>>43129224
Not always noticeably so. For one thing the difference between the angles of different points on the screen depends on your distance from the monitor, so the effect depends on where you put your screen to some degree, but more importantly the effect is worse on some panels than others. Many TN panels are good enough that as long as you're viewing it straight on at a reasonable distance the effect is imperceptible. Of course, that isn't true for all of them.
>>
>>43129311
My old TN monitor showed a pretty noticeable gradient from bottom to top even viewed straight on, maybe was just a shitty one though

Open command prompt
Run "diskpart"
Enter "list disk"
Enter "select disk N", where N is the number corresponding to your flash drive that shows up in "list disk". MAKE SURE IT'S THE RIGHT ONE.
Enter "clean"
Exit the command line and go try to access the flash drive. It will ask you to format it. Do that.

It should now show up in unetbootin. This will naturally erase everything off the drive, but I'm sure you were already ready for that. No guarantees this will work, but good luck!

Try setting your inbound and outbound encryption settings to "forced" if that's an option. It's possible your ISP is sniffing traffic and fucking with it, and encryption _might_ solve that (as their packet sniffers hopefully won't be able to identify the traffic as bittorrent).

See here for an example of an ISP doing something like this:

Hopefully someone can give me a hand, I am trying to decrease the size of my windows 8 partition in return to increase my partition of linux and I am trying to use Gparted to do so but when I try booting into it it gives me a redundant error of "modprobe: can't load module ext4 ext4 ntfs: invalid arguement".

not sure about windows 8 partitions but if it's ntfs don't fuck with it from linux, windows hates that shit and it'll shit itself and demand an installation disk
use device manager in windows, not sure if you're able to resize the currently booted partition on windows but give it a go
then get yourself a live disk to resize your linux from (definitely can't resize current booted on linux), linux is generally cool about resizing but you're probably going to have to restore grub and shit from the live disk
also do a bit of googling with the phrases "dual boot partition resize" maybe there's a lifehacker, howtogeek or if you're lucky stackoverflow out there
>>
>>43132717
mint or ubuntu, i'd recommend mint
move on to debian or manjaro after a while
then do gentoo or proper arch
also remember to dual boot at the start, don't want to cut yourself out completely, probably going to have to microsoft office a couple of things for work or college

i would start with xubuntu.
mint and ubuntu have much bload, so better do not use them.
after a while you should probably want to try other distros too, like >>43133599 sayed.
then try them out and stick with the one, you like the most.

and now my question:
would it be possible to run a chromium core (html5/css3/js interpreter) as a wm? so that i could use a website as a wm? So that i would have something like just a normal desktop, that i can customize through html and run programs from. Would that be possible, or is there already such a thing?

How is it possible for a regular website that is not on my machine, but somewhere in the internets to resolve to 127.0.0.1? It happens both when I ping it and when I use ip-adress.com and similar detector sites.

Could it be a kind of DDoS protection? I never heard of such stuff though.
