I also need some advice that is completely unrelated, but as you're a guitar fag, I'm hoping you can help me.
I play drums, however due to lack of space I've had to sell my kit. Because of this, I'm looking to start guitar, however I have no idea where to start when it comes to gear.
I want something mid-range, something that doesn't sound shit, but also something that isn't completely overkill. I've currently been looking between the £500-600 range, which I'd then use a Line 6 POD Studio GX to connect to my Tannoy speakers through my PC.

If you buy Schecter/LTD, make sure they are made in Korea, as they're one step above chinese ones. Squiers are fine, the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibes lines are nice. The semihollow Epiphones are nice too.

Get a small drawer of some sort that pulls out for storage for controller and wires plus then just put a headphone stand on the drawer for your m50.
Get a bigger mousepad such as XTRAC PADS Ripper XXL Mouse Pad (they also have other companies and brands that make big mousepads.)

If you don't have an old picture frame, just go to a random thrift store and pick one up. I found that there are different finishes on frame glass, so be wary of that. Mine has a texture to it.
