Okay /g/uys, is there any serious development being made towards androids, even ones that are only good for doing housework and sex for the sad, lonely people who buy them?
I'm honestly surprised there's not a big open source AI movement happening, and it's disappointing that for what feels like the past decade or two, research in the field has stagnated severely.
Is there any hope for the future of electronic waifus?

No, we don't have good enough technology to make robots that will look good, have AGI and move freely.

Learn one or two conversation openers. When people talk to you, have eye contact, nod and smile. Shut up but from time to time, give leads by asking for elaboration. People will think that you are emphatic and a good listener. Find anything in common, and build on it. It is work, but not that hard. You wont score on your first try but overtime you will build confidence.

In Japan yes. There is a strong national push to devise home health care bots to help the elderly in they're homes and in care housing.

Ehh. It's simply because it's the single hardest problem in computer software/hardware ever attempted. We've been trying for around 55 years or so now. OpenAI may make some good progress in the next few years. Even Zuckerberg is trying his hand at it now apparently.

Ofc not. That's pretty much a spiritual characteristic, and bots will never be that. We could, however, teach them how to behave in a willing, submissive, caring, and nurturing way. For most anons that would probably feel pretty similar (at least for a while).

Aside from the physical side of things - sex, cuddling, hand-holding, all that jazz - I don't even want a girl in my life, so don't give me that crap.
What I'm hoping for is that in the next 10 or so years we'll have electric waifus. They don't have to be perfect, just good enough to be comforting, do the housework, and play vidya with.
