how did you choose that particular mobo?
I chose to go with a low profile cooler because (as you will see later on) the stock cooler from AMD would've been too high.

The case I'm using is a Jonsbo V6. It looks like a speakerbox and fits very well into your living room environment.
The inside is very tiny so I will be packing things quite tight in there.

I needed a mITX FM2 board with WiFi. There aren't really that many to choose from and Gigabyte has been pretty good for me lately.

The mainboard in question is a Gigabyte GA-F2A88XN-WIFI. It wasn't very expensive (around 90 bucks).
This is also my first mITX build ever.
With the cooler mounted, the RAM has barely any room to breathe.

The budget was around 500 Euros to get sort of equivalent results with current gen consoles (XBone, PS4). We'll see about the benchmarks at a later date, since I'm currently downloading SteamOS.

Because I will be using this box from time to time with a windows hdd for LANs and to play BF3/4 so I had to get a rather juicy GPU. I was thinking about getting a APU only machine at first though.

No. You'd have to get the mini version of a GPU or a GTX 750 sized card. It does have space for two-slot cards though so thickness shouldn't be a problem.
Last but not least, SSD goes on top of everything into it's SSD/2.5" bracket.
Now that everything's installed, let's zip-tie the loose cables so they don't get caught in any fan.

The case has a dedicated bracket for 3.5" HDDs. The bracket would be installed next to the GPU on the side, so it would basically block the airflow for the GPU.
This is the main reason I chose to use a SSD with this build.

The point is a small case you can place in your living room that will not stand out with it's size or any weird gaymen designs.
You could also just get a NUC, glue it to the back of your TV and stream your games exclusively over LAN.

I can not provide any statements regarding performance and temperature yet. SteamOS is downloading with crappy speeds right now.
A larger GPU would fit, if it's length is not exceeding the 750 + around 5cm. Regular sized GPUs will not fit in this case which is why you'd probably not want to make this your main gaming rig.

I finished installing the SteamOS to this box. So far it is working fantastic.
I tested Streaming (Batman Arkham Origins) as well as a natively installed game (The Swapper). Framerate of Batman was 60fps on ultra settings with a bit of screenjitter here and there. That is caused by my network (wifi, host has around 36MBit/s, Steambox 136MBit/s). Once I get a better wifi nic for my main rig, it should be fine.
There is one major problem however: the audio output is distorted and sounds like it is downsampled. Audio comes through HDMI. I will try analog audio later as well.

So far I'm really pleased with the results.
The audio hickups that I had are gone after turning my Steambox of for around an hour. Don't know what that was though so I think it's possible it will return sooner or later.

Very curious to see temps under light, regular, and intense use OP. My next build will likely be mini-itx (I built a home server in a node 304, so I'm somewhat familiar with mini-itx already), but fuck is your ram close to your cpu cooler and is your cooler close to your PSU. Both would worry me.

Crossfiring with the APU is also bad. In some cases it actually makes the performance worse.
That is if you can even get it to work. You have to have drivers for the exact combination you're using.
