It's a flagship series ThinkPad, and they didn't fuck it up in any major way as they did with the X240, as far as I can tell. Some people will probably miss the VGA shit, but to be honest, I'd rather have the extra USB-port. Too bad they didn't put at least one type C in there, though.
I notice now, that they only have the option of a 300 nits 1080p screen. 300 fucking nits? The X250 came with a 400 nits 1080p screen! Fuck you, Lenovo. That's probably where they got that extra battery life "upgrade" from.

Thinkpads consistently have the worst fucking screens, I bought an x220 to replace my x200 and I still haven't switched over because somehow the screen has even worse viewing angles and worse colors.
Like, looking at an all blue background, the top and the bottom of the screen are different colors, shit is insanely bad.

Right, it shouldn't, but they're obviously not going to use the same panels as in the X250. Instead, they're going to use a lower brightness panel. That, to me, seems like a cost cutting measure.
I'm actually contemplating purchasing either the X250 or the X260, and right now, it's actually leaning toward the X250 because of this.
I will probably buy one when used ones become available. By that time I'm still going to use my x200s. I will soon upgrade it with x201 mobo, some extra ram and ssd, and maybe I will make a ghetto-powerbrigde from parts cannibalized from a docking base and dead battery (or convert a docking base into a one fucking huge battery)
It's a letdown.
The new t460s has a new sexy design. The x260 is nothing more but a x250 with updated a new architecture and STILL no 2x RAM slots.

It looks kind of shitty to be honest. I liked them better when the charging port was on the back, and the fan outputs were on the top of the sides and part of the back.
I also would prefer a full sized keyboard. I don't want a number pad, but I want the prtsc, pause/break, and scroll lock keys, but that's probably never going to happen. I don't care about the chiclets.

You can buy used T60 or T61 thunkpads for $50 or less, and with that you get a perfectly usable laptop with excellent *nix compatibility that will easily survive retard siblings or pets knocking them down to the floor

are you me? I have an x220 just sitting in my room unused while I type this on my x200.
The x220 does not have a battery indicator LED visible when the screen's open! My x200 has one, it's super useful because you can be fullscreen doing something and still get a warning "oh fuck it turned orange, 20%, find an outlet." all my other laptops would either just straight die on me or only break fullscreen at 5%, pretty cucked.

T60 's are not too much fun as modern machines. I own two. The resolutions are great but the panels age horribly, they go yellow and dim with shit viewing angles. Literally can't read text comfortably at the top of the screen and bottom at the same time. X1400 is *barely*
better than GMA4500 and not worth the power draw.
Never owned a T61 but they have a reputation as timebombs.
X200 all the way, senpai. Apparently T400's are good too but if i'm gonna be using a C2D it might as well be lightweight.

They gouge a lot on the extra options for the first few months and it tapers off after that. You can still save 30% off the standard website price if you use EPP or one of the other affiliate programs.
Anyway I am not buying one of these any time soon since my X230 still works great. (My X200 on the other hand is on its 3rd battery and 2nd screen and probably won't last much longer.)

I'm inclined to agree that MacBooks have become the new corporate laptop with Lenovo only being able to blame themselves. There have been so many compromises with the Thinkpad series the last 10 years, a seemingly great Thinkpad will have some crippling flaw or compromise while still being priced the same as a MacBook. It's ridiculous, Lenovo should know better than to rely on the Thinkpad brand to sell.
I'm going to hold my T60 close forever and dust it off once in a while to enjoy its build and feel, then calmly put it away and forget what Thinkpad has become.
Also, for clarity, I don't own a MacBook, nor any Apple products at all.
