Hey /g/ just wanted your opinion on this:
So i am thinking of buying a gaming pc (standard one with 4690k 970/390), hooking it up to a larger TV screen and using it with wirelles mouse, keyboard and playing games with wireless controllers.
Has anyone done so? Is it doable?
Of course it's do-able. It works great, just make sure your TV doesn't have a super high latency
Yeah loads of people do
It's just gonna be hard to use your pc for anything other than gaming

well i have a laptop for stuff like browsing and working, so thats not a problem.I just want PC because i never had one and always dreamed of playing those new high demanding games but also i dont want to be that gamer that sits 20 inches from the screen and games all day. Also dont want to be a console peasant.
One more question, how is it playing games like bf4, arma3, mainly shooter with controller? If i have never played a shooter in my life with controller, how long it would take me to master it? Also does it feel different controlling a shooter game on PC and Console?
Also what about games like Witcher 3, GTA 5, Shadow of Mordor?

yes, be aware that contrast can be shit on some TVs plus big input lags.

If you can get a good deal on a prebuilt then go ahead but its usually cheaper and more customizable to just build one yourself.

Ummm... What? Other than gaming? A gaming PC is just not a gaming PC, it can be used for basic web browsing to 4k video editing.

Where did i speak about pre-built? Ofc i am gonna build it myself
I just bought a nice 4k curved TV and it works great for gaming. Just make sure you get a qaulity TV. I've had no problems with mine at all. Contrast is great, no input lag ect. It works far better than my last TV for gaming. It's practically a PC monitor.

4.3GHz + 780m 4GB SLI laptop hooked up to it. Nothing too special. I can get 40-50 FPS in Metro: Last Light maxed out (except for AA) in 4k. Also have some consoles...

If you wanna do shooter, go for keyboards and mouse.
I don't have much experience in console gaming but I guess playing games like gta 5, the witcher 3, it's better with a controller.
