You're literally autistic if you can't understand that people can benefit from using Linux even though it doesn't match *your* computing needs.
This is LITERALLY a symptom of autism; being able to understand that other people are independant entities.
I understand this, and I use Linux exclusively. Let that sink in; you're more autistic than someone who uses ganoo slash loonix 24/7. You're not the good kind of autist like I am, who programs robots, maintains personal servers, tries new programming languages, and makes their own electronics. No, that's the smart kind of autist. You're the kind of underdeveloped child-like autist who plays with electronic toys and will die ignorant.
So don't use Linux. Just go back to >>>/v/.

98.5% of common people, but up to 96.6% of system admins choose Linux for servers. The great majority of DARPA robot challenge participants use Linux (including the winner). Any scientific experiment that requires stability uses Linux.
You want to talk numbers? People who don't do anything cool with their computers use Windows exclusively.

>>52218555
People are using laptops and desktops for their daily computing. Leave your basement once in a while and you'll find out.
>>
>>52218626
This isn't the outside world, this is a TECHNOLOGY BOARD. We do more than play video games and browse facebook. We have home servers, robots, and USBs with minimal programming environments. That's my daily computing.
If you have a problem with people using the same software as professionals to work with technology they use daily on a technology board, maybe you should go to the outside world you like so much and leave this place.
>>
>>52218476
This doesn't change the fact that Linux is fairly irrelevant on the Desktop - If you want to be productive there, Linux is usually not the optimal answer.

Right, Linux is only good for such uncommon actions as using a filesystem, installing and uninstalling programs, and manipulating windows. Not anything anyone ACTUALLY does.
Besides, I like to base what I use based on arbitrary share percentages. I like to be right in there with the comfy crowd mentality. I'm sure the geniuses are right in there with the 98.5% and the sub-90 IQs are all in that 5%. When is the majority ever stupid and uninformed?

1. Linux has a lot of games in the form of Steam ports, emulators and native programs that are only on Linux
2. If you use the amount of video games an OS can play as a major benchmark of whether you want to use it or not, you are literally a fucking autist or 10 (basically the same thing)

In order for a platform to be good it need to be able to provide what the majority of the consumer needs. If 90% of the people are using windows programs and linux users cant use it at the same time then you can't claim to be superior no matter that windows is a piece of crap it is still the to go os. Making it better, you can claim its good but its only good to look at, just like mac.

Mind posting some system specs? I'm looking to move to a full Linux setup in the future too, tired of having to dual boot for games and other Windows stuff.

How difficult was it to get everything setup? Is the process well documented out there or based more on trial and error based experimentation?

Another example of bad journalism.
They asked an environment artist/level designer about the linux port and he said he doesn't know. And that was quite some time before the game was released. The port is coming, they just had to get the game out on the platforms where they actually make money first.
Afaik Witcher 3 uses pretty much the same engine as Witcher 2, so the port shouldn't be that hard.

>How difficult was it to get everything setup?
Fairly laborious, I needed to patch my kernel a few times and it's all held up by a crude network of hand written bash scripts.

>Is the process well documented out there or based more on trial and error based experimentation?
The documentation around is reasonable, some Arch forum posts, a vfio blog, ect, but in no way exhaustive nor completely up to date. Experimentation will be required as you will run into issues unique to your hardware.

Just set aside an afternoon or a day and give it a go.

Also, I am not this guy, but he seems to know what he's talking about:

The implementation of the same things are better on linux though, except maybe for the gtk's file picker, but considering that windows doesn't even provide basic functionality like tabs on the file browser or being able to freely change the icon theme, and that you need to constantly defend from your own software provider, the situation it's not that bad
