Really? Are they forcing it now?
I'd be pissed. I'm the guy who replaced his mobo which invalidated his Win 10 key, since they store it in the UEFI BIOS now.
In my opinion, Windows 10 licensing is designed to move people away from the indefinite ownership model. I'm talking about the guys who have bees running the same XP license on like five generations of system rebuilds.
Tie the license to a single mobo and BAM, every time you want to do a significant PC upgrade you're looking at buying a new license.
Literally takes 2 seconds... Remove Update KB3035583

bs. thats not how the prompt works.
You know there are clean-up scripts that remove the Windows 10 nag and data mining updates, right? Make sure you have automatic updates disabled first, though.

it wasnt the same prompt. it was a new popup. like a window not a little prompt

my work windows 7 laptop has never prompted me to update. what's different? some function in AD?
>>51641639
weird. I just get the little prompt, and it only pops up blabbing about w10 and "millions of installs" when I reboot.

I get this now too, all you have to do is click the X in the corner instead of one of the update now or later buttons. Is stupid bullshit, but it's better than having to manually stop windows update every time.

I'm on win8.1 I uninstalled a few updates, and blocked windows update and i'm fine now. I found a .bat file online to help as well.
Perhaps maybe an anon may post it for you.
My laptop bios aren't 10 compatible so I don't have to worry about it

windows 7 is my last windows. the only reason to run windows is video games at this point and they are really dropping the ball on video game support

as far as im concerned, anything that needs updates is just a scam.
ie. the new fapfox browser, all gaming systems, and especially windows.

Thanks a lot for this ! I always wondered where it would be the best point to install win7 before those updates.
I feel you, OP. I'm building a VM with Win10 inside Linux for my Non-Linux games, so fucking done with these broken updates and empty promises.
