It's July 15th, that means it's time for another GPHG edition, as the competing watches were just released. So at the moment there's quite a few watches in the running.

Including:

The Swiss Alp Watch. You know, that one that makes fun of smart watches, looks a bit like an apple watch buy is really a 20k+ mechanical? Yeah, that one.

We know the swiss hate Seiko, the Eichi II didn't even make pre-select last year. Seiko's back with 3 watches this year.

Under the credor brand, their tourbillon. Not too shocking with that. They did submit that under the Artistic Crafts category.

Under the generic "Men’s" catagory (the catagory the Eichi II was in) they have the 8 day power reserve GS Spring Drive. You may recall that from earlier this year being the GS that was worked on in Seiko's Micro Artist Studio (the group that normally just does Credor and works and trains with Philippe Dufour.) This watch uses 3 spring barrels to achieve its nearly 200hour power reserve and has cool looking single bridge in the back. That being said it is 43mm.

Under the Petite Aiguille category they actually submitted a limited edition enamel chrono. Now a chrono choice is interesting because generally their high end chrono is spring drive, but also the 6S37 which they're not really actively using, but TAG is. But underneath that high end 6S37, they have the 8R family chronographs, which do have some really cool tech with its triple vertical clutch, and that's what's in the watch they chose. A Presage enamel dialed chrono that's inspiried by a seiko watch made over 100 years ago, the Laurel. Limited edition of 1,000 of them. Really interesting to see they submitted this piece.

Keep in mind the Petite Aiguille catagory is one that the GS GMT won previously, and looking at the price of this chrono you could buy this 2-3 times by the time you could buy many of the other entries in this category, so they've come in very low on this one. But we'll see what the swiss think, the cool triple vertical clutch design can maybe get it into pre-selected status.

RGM also submitted this year, their in-house 801 movement (ultimately based on 6498 design) in a Pilot's watch.

Given the pictures it doesn't look like they've put in the Wolfs Tooth winding wheels or even the motor barrel system, which is a little suprising to me, I assumed they were pretty proud of it and would have wanted to include it, but oh well.

Eterna has an alarm watch submitted for Mechanical Exception -- often where you would find minute repeaters and stuff. Given how many alarm watches used to exist, and how few do now, I guess they decided an alarm is worthy of mechanical exception, but I has my doubts. but at 40mm it's not a bad size. Clearly a design that's meant to be legible on your wrist and to be propped up on a night stand as a small clock. 40mm makes is reasonably sized.

It's one of three eterna watches submitted

Zenith has 5 entries total, 5. One of them is the
Tourbillon Georges Favre-Jacot, with their chain transmission system. It's 45mm, too big, but still amazing.

And the last one I'll mention in this way is Tudor.

They submitted the Black Bay!

And the Black Bay!

And the Black Bay!

Yes, they submitted three heritage black bays. In the Men’s catagory, against the likes of a Corum Golden Bridge, the Swiss Alps Watch, a Hermes Slim d'Hermes Email, and the GS 8 Day power reserve, they submitted the "Heritage Black Bay." It's a sweet looking watch, but I'm not a huge fan of the use of gold hands and cream lume to create some sort of patina analog in a new watch.

They also submitted the Heritage Black Bay Bronze in Petite Aiguille.

And also in the same category they submitted the Heritage Black Bay Dark, a PVD coated black bay.

There are many other watches, feel free to post cool ones (or shit ones), but I'm pretty much done. Altiplano 900P looking sexy as fuck though, seriously.

I put my C60 Trident on a navy blue nato strap and I think it's much better than the leather or engineer bracelet.
>>
>>55597459
When a bracelet sits flush with the case is creates a very different look. Need end links that fit your watch
>>
Why do we have 2 threads?

>>55595112
>>
>>55599693
True, I don't want to pay over half what the watch cost for a bracelet though. I'll just wear it on the nato considering how comfy it is.
>>
>>55599723
Someone made that thread like an hour after this one. occasionally someone makes specifically quartz digital threads. That could have been their intention
>>
>>55594629
I'd wear that
