I want to buy the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro but everything seems so overwhelming with the software aspects. Global roms, vendor roms, have to unlock bootlegger which takes 2 weeks etc.

I just wanna use the fucking phone straight outta the box with some chink bloatware and with app store working.
>>
>>55535788
Android has been okay for years now, albeit still obscenely RAM hungry and shitty about long lists, but manufacturers fuck it up with bloat. Maybe N will help fix the RAM hogging issue and squash some longstanding performance bugs, but shit like touchsnizz will continue to drag it down.

The noapps thing on WP was really weird, though. It had a good development environment, although somewhat limited, and the attach rate for paid appz was pretty high due to a thirsty audience, but almost nobody would put an app out for it, or they'd put out garbage. I almost believe the conspiracy theories about Apple and Google paying the big devs to not dev for WP.

You can use the vendor rom out of the box if you really want to. but then you won't get updates and you'll probably have some chinky spyware on the phone.

Flashing the global rom takes 10 minutes and you don't need to unlock the bootloader.

You can also ask the shop to do if for you if you're buying from aliexperss and then you really won't have to do anything.

Fuck, the last time I thought about it I came to the same conclusion and it pains me.
Thing is I have a Nexus 6P right now, which is good, but I just can't into big screens anymore.
Now the Z5C caught my eye, but I had a Z3 last year and I know how Sony is. Good cameras crippled by abysmal and terribly locked down software, pretty bad UI and custom roms are rare and work like shit anyway (and ruin the camera performance even further).
And the iPhone SE which is objectively the best compact device nowadays but fuck iOS.
Guess I'll stick with the 6P and see if the next small Nexus is any better than the 5X.

Yeah I'm not a fan of iOS either. Someone on the Android side of things has to step up to the fucking plate now that Sony's mobile strategy has shit itself entirely. But I suppose they can't because premium compact is a tiny niche and they're all losing too much money to take that risk.

>>55536345
Not to mention the possibility that the screen and glass back will crack for no reason, or when the phone overheats. And it's just pathetic that the same Sony camera hardware that does just fine in other phones has a habit of overheating and shutting down in Sony phones.

>>55536668
Yeah, hopefully with the iPhone SE being pretty successful afaik, some Android OEMs might put some more effort into good compact phones starting at the end of the year or next year. Then again maybe not.

OK, we're a little over 4 hours in to Prime Day on Amazon and I haven't yet seen the deal that I was hoping to see show up again: the 16GB Nexus 5x for $150 (that was available on Amazon a few days ago), and since it may now show up again, I wanted to ask for some advice/opinions/suggestions.

Location & Service: I'm in the U.S. in Arizona and I have T-Mobile service with Unlimited Talk, Text & LTE Data
Budget: Around/under $200-$250
Important features: Excellent camera, battery life, signal strength & call-quality, snappy/smooth operation
Size: Not that important, but I currently have a Nexus 5 and like its size, and a 2013 Moto X, and also like it

As I mentioned, I'm currently using a Nexus 5 (a little outdated, I know) and it's my favorite phone I've had so far. I've actually had 3 of them (all purchased used) and I am basically happy with its performance overall. However, I've had the particular Nexus 5 for over a year and it's showing signs of use, so I'd really like to try to find an affordable upgrade. Especially, with today being Prime Day on Amazon.

I am basically trying to decide between two phones: The Nexus 5x and the Moto X Pure. If the Nexus 5x goes back down to $150, even if it's just the 16GB model again, there's no way that I won't buy it today, as I will simply have to grab that deal. However, if it doesn't go back down that low and I'm looking at having to spend $200-plus for the Nexus 5x, I'll have something of a dilemma.

I realize that the Moto X Pure is considerably larger than the Nexus 5, and I may not like the size of the Moto X Pure, particularly, to have to carry in my pocket, but it sure seems like it'd be nice to have a larger screen to view. It seems as though the cameras on the 5x and the Pure are similar (and both excellent), but that the Pure has battery battery life and expandable storage; with the 5x having faster updates.

So, does anyone have any advice or suggestions about which phone is the better device/value?

Can anyone recommend a phone that 1. Can take a beating(not breaking every time it falls to the ground...) and 2. doesnt have pre installed apps or a way to get rid of them?
I currently use an old sony xperia model which bloats it's on 2GB of storage with "necessary" google play updates and which refuses to accept my SD as a alternative storage option. My phone is always to bloated with apps and useless data that the whole OS starts to lag all the time. Should be max. 300€. Sorry haven't Seen any promising post/ review. If there is already a phone that fits my description pls link me to that post and feel free to call me a dummy. Thanks in advance.

To elaborate a little more, I don't play any games on my phone, so having a monster processor that can flawlessly play HD games is not a concern. However, I do takes lots of pictures (thousands each month, literally), so having a really good/great camera is very important/highly preferred. And as I mentioned in my previous post >>55537270 it seems as though both the Nexus 5X and the Moto X Pure have great-excellent cameras, but I read some comments earlier this morning about the camera on the Pure really struggling in low-light situations, whereas the 5X apparently works really in low-light conditions.

Also, there is a Prime Day deal going on right now for the Moto X Pure 32GB model for $250, so if the 16GB Nexus 5X does not go back down to $150, the 32GB model of the Nexus 5X is going for around $230 (I think), so there would only be about a $20 difference between the two phones right now.

If the prices are close to the same, is one device markedly better than the other? If so, in what ways? Thoughts? Opinions? Experiences?

Also, is the Motorola Moto G4 (which just got released today, I believe, and can be had in a 32GB model for around $150-$175) a good-great buy at that price? Is it somewhat comparable to the Nexus 5X or the Moto X Pure?
>>
I have a Galaxy S7 but I really need something with a removable battery. Thing is, the G5's quality control scares the life out of me. Previously owned a G4 that never bootlooped, thinking of going back to that if I can get a new one with a good serial number. Alternatively should I just take the jump to the G5? Or something else entirely?

Stuck on Verizon since I work there btw

I have a 1st gen moto g, xt1032. Is CM13 any good or should I just stick with stock lollipop 5.1?

Thanks for replying! I actually mentioned the Moto G4 here >>55537428 and it seems to be a good device and a good value at this price, but I haven't researched it enough to know if it's in the same league as the Nexus 5X or Moto X Pure.

As for the Honor 5X, I was asking some questions about it on SD, as it seems to be a popular phone among affordable devices right now. However, I am of the impression that it's more of a budget phone and not a mid/higher-end device. Are you familiar with it? if so, what are your thoughts on it? Is it comparable to the Nexus 5X or the Moto X Pure? Does it have a good-great camera? Fast/smooth operation?

And between the Honor 5X and the Moto 4G, is one significantly better than the other?

Indians get an upgraded version of Asus ZenFone MAX
I really want it because it looks like the best combo of (Battery+Functionality+Quality)/Price

However I found absolutely no way of ordering this version - every site with international shipping offers the old 2014 one with Snapdragon 410

The New versions with Snapdragon 615 and 3GiB Ramso far exist in India exclusively.
Is there a way to order it from India without the risk of getting scammed?

Yes it's quite a big enough upgrade. The Note 3 has a Snapdragon 650 processor which is a lot better in performance and power efficiency than the Mediatek x10. Has a Micro SD card slot, has a bump up from 3 Ah to 4 Ah battery size although isn't removable.

>>
Hey guys, I'd like to hear your opinions on this. Please be as unbiased as possible. I'm torn between getting a Oneplus 3 and a Samsung Galaxy Note7. My OPO is starting to feel old and I think it's time to upgrade. I want to get the very best, but the price/quality ratio of the OP3 is very tempting. I made a list of pros and cons of each phone. I know the Note7 isn't official yet but I think it's safe to assume the rumors are at least mostly true.

Note7

Pros:
>best screen on the market
>best camera on the market
>bigger screen (5,7" or 5,8" rumored)
>bigger battery (3600mAh or 4000mAh rumored)
>processor that's about 10% faster than the current flagship's
>has stylus
>waterproof, not a huge plus but nice to have
>iris scanner, nice to have but won't probably use
>64GB memory default + microSD slot

Cons:
>bad dev support, which means my ROM-flashing and modding pretty much ends here
>TouchWiz, but it's decent enough with a Material Dark skin
>price, probably costing 850€+ makes it more than twice as expensive as the OP3
>might take a while to root

OP3

Pros:
>very good price for what you get
>almost stock android
>great dev support
>I think looks better than Samsung phones
>one of the best calibrated screens after sRGB update

Cons:
>"just" fullHD screen
>no microSD slot but 64GB is enough
>SD820 isn't as fast but is definitely fast enough
>fullHD PenTile AMOLED stretched over a 5,5" screen might cause grainy text etc. (can someone confirm?)
>smaller battery but 3000mAh is decent enough
>decent camera, not the best but comes out a tad bit better than iPhone 6s+'s camera in tests, which is good enough
>noisy/rattly and weak vibration motor (confirm?)
>bad video recording
>headphone jack not aligned (REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE)

What do you guys think?

>>
>>55538736
Note 7 obviously, it has a msd slot and bunch of better specs. Why would you deliberately buy a gimped phone?

I know you think 64GB may be enough for now but that can and will change. A good quality 4K movie is like 12GB and they will start to become popular soon. Don't you want to be able to watch them on your Note 7 in bed, it's rumoured they will use a 4K res screen for the phone.

And 3rd party options are richer and better than samsungs ones?

>>
>>55538805
Oneplus themselves are really bad at updating, yes, but community brewed ROMs and mods have been god tier on Oneplus phones. I think they already released some stuff to aid devs, and they're releasing the code for their quick charging this month so custom ROMs can have that feature.

Samsung is just as bad or worse at updates, and they don't even have custom ROMs to keep them going.
>>
>>55538866
I don't quite understand. Dev support by the community means that he will have the opportunity to use other roms than the stock rom. The problem with the newer samsung line is that they usually use an exynos cpu (or it has a locked down bootloader like the s7 in the us). Samsung currently tries to keep 3rd party support away which is sad because that made their phones pretty good.

Samsung has a really bad track record at updating their phones. If you didn't get a flagship you're pretty much fucked with updates.

Your best bet is the ZTE Warp Elite. It's like $75 on amazon right now. Has 2GB of RAM, 720p screen, and bynch of other 1337 specs you won't find on sub-$100 phones.

Only catch is it only works for Boost Mobile so you'll have to switch to them if you want it.

>really illustrates how android is just fucked as a platform because high margin flagships are getting killed by low price commodity shit that has reasonable functionality for a fraction of the cost

Part of that has to do with the rise of unlocked phones in the US. Back when phones were subsidized by carriers when renewing two year contracts you basically had to offer something high end because otherwise people just went with iPhones.

Now that carriers are moving away from that model in favor or simply leasing devices or "bring your own phone" methods people can basically upgrade whenever they want meaning a cheaper device can easily be bought whenever

How is the X Power? Using a Moto E (2015) atm, looking for a cheap upgrade.
>>
>>55541054
Just checked and my Warp Elite works with your stupid meme games. However AR did not work so I guess no gyroscope exists on it. Consider getting a Boost S4 for AR, it was $150 last time I checked on amazon though.

>Otterbox will most likely never make a Commuter for the HTC 10

Any recommended cases in the same vein?

What do you guys think of DOOGEE?

Thinking of getting Redmi Note 3 Pro but I have a htc m8 (verizon), will there be a noticeable performance increase between the two? All the benchmarks seem like bullshit, I just want to run cm13 on it

Have been thinking hard over what new phone to get for about two weeks now, and have decided an iPhone SE is the best since anything large will annoy me 100% of the time while only being more useful 10% of the time.

For the remaining 10% I'm gonna pair it with a cheap Android tablet or phablet (that I can wifi tether to the iPhone). Any recommendation on a cheap (under ~$150 new or used) tablet/phablet? All I care about is the screen and speaker quality, since it'll just be for video and maybe some document work. Totally don't care if it's slow or if it has cell data at all.
>>
>>55541438
If you're spending less than $100 on a new phone they seem like your best bet (protip: HomTom is also DooGee)
>>
>>55541445
Boost S4 on amazon. Not even a phablet, screen is 5.0" and battery is removable so you can upgrade the capacity later with a $20 anker/zerolemon if you want to.
>>
>LG G3
>6,500 mAh extended battery
>64 GB micro sd
>EarPods
All for $190

Did I do good? I think I could've gotten nicer earphones but for $10 bucks they're pretty cozy
>>
>>55541456
Fuck off, the only trustworthy chinkbrand is ZTE.
>>
>>55541481
What's up with this earpod meme? Why is everyone getting them over regular earbuds? They look uncomfortable and retarded as fuck.
>>
>>55541522
They're pretty comfortable imo. I've tried using ear buds but eh I can't really get into them. They always feel like they're going to fall out even with the bigger sized buds. Don't really care about audio quality I just need them for the mic.
>>
>>55541522
Earpods have the benefit of conventional earbuds, in that they're non-isolating and easy to take on and off and without those annoying 'sibilance' sounds with isolating headphones. But they sound much better than any other earbuds, if not as good as decent IEMs.

5X, the software on the Huawei is pure garbage.
>>
Any suggestions for a phone to compete with the redmi note 3 that doesn't have a shit camera? I hear the camera is utter garbage
>>
>>55541522
Samsung ear pods with the bigger rubbers is the only thing that stays in my ear, plus they sound okay for 20€-ish headphones. They're great if you can just find ones that fit.
>>
>>55541478
Nah, what I'm looking for is a stupid huge phablet or small tablet, since I'll only be carrying it when it's convenient (when I have a backpack anyway).

shove them up your mother's withered cunt

come back with pictures

>stupid huge phablet
Huawei Mediapad X2?

I have a galaxy note 2 that served me well and I don't want to change but it's giving me little signs that it may be about to die so I was thinking of changing for the huawei mate 8.
>>
>>55541615
Android tablets are pretty gimped though. Get the S4 + ~$20 extended battery if you're worried about battery life that much.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00GNQ10VS

Link related: 7,800 mAh extended battery

Stock S4 battery: 2,600 mAh

Increase in battery capacity: 3X

The sony xperia XA is £200, or $265 on amazon sales right now.
Should I bite the bullet? I've been needing a new phone for a while now, and the one I'm using can only run apps written in Java.
>>
>>55541681
Because I bought one of those doge phone meme things from aliexpress and it died on my in less than a month. Fucking chink piece of shit trash.

What model / how did it die?

The second generation Moto X was probably my favorite phone i've ever had.

Is the Pure Edition any good? Or am I better off with the 5x?
>>
>>55537270
don't buy the Moto X Pure, the SoC is going to go downhill hard in about a year's time. Get the 5X.
>>
>>55536233
These are $269 on Amazon why would you pay $400
>>
>>55538639
just get another texting app, much easier than using that garbage that comes with it.

Reminder that the GS4 is depreciated and I've been dealing with memory leaks for months.
>>
>>55542010
screen, proprietary charger, speaker is poorly placed if you want to game in landscape, hard to repair, potentially no warranty in case you have any issues with the phone
>>
>>55541934
if you don't mind horrible software, they're fine

>>55541771
don't buy the fucking Pure, it's going to turn to shit after one software update
>>
>>55542010
The vibration motor is loud and weak. The camera is not the best but still better than what iPhones have, according to tests.

>>55542023
With the new sRGB update it's one of the best calibrated screens out there. But I'm a bit worried that fullHD stretched out to 5,5" won't be sharp enough, since it's pentile.

Looking to upgrade from my garbage Huawei Ascend Y530.

Planning to go with Wind Mobile (from Canada). I'm looking for a good phone in the $300CAD-$600CAD range.

I'd like good RAM amount (~2gb+) and storage space (minimum 16gb), with an SD card slot.
