Why do people still fall for the more than 8GB meme? Pic related

Why do people still fall for the more than 8GB meme?

Pic related is my phone with 40 apps installed, and over 1000 images from WhatsApp in my storage (shown by the purple section).

I don't have any music on my phone but even if I wanted to store it locally I've still got 1.7GB to do so (aka over 200 8MB MP3's).

Also just remembered I still have a 250mb cyanogenmod rom in my storage I haven't deleted, that's even more space.

Why would you need any more than this anon?

Rather than making up excuses about keeping linux distros on your phone and watching anime on it, let me tell you what I do.

My current phone has 4 gigabytes of usable memory, and I:
>Have 1500 photos (I have to frequently back them up)
>about 60 wallpapers
>a couple of screenshots
>half a gigabyte of music (that's about 6 or 7 albums)

and I have just 100 megabytes left. Eight gigabytes would be more than enough for me, but..

I have never really made CWM backups. Okay, I did do one, just one single time.

A backup of my phone can easily take more than 800 megabytes.

Let's presume you have two backups, just in case. Add in some backups made from TiBu, and you could easily have at least 2 gigabytes of backups taking up space.

This is a technology board, so I am pretty sure there are people here who do backup things.

The only thing I don't like about the 5X is its low amount of RAM. 2GB isn't really enough for serious multitasking these days. Expect background apps to have to reload after opening two or three more after it.

Because some people like music and don't want to get cucked by streaming cancer. 200 tracks is absolutely ridiculous in 2005+11. There are thousands of artists and hundred thousands of albums to listen to, why would you limit yourself so much?

Also in times of Google Photos, I don't get why anybody would store more than 50 on their phone.

Im guessing you researched the specs of your phone and bought something powerful enough to run games that you can't/won't store in that useless 1.7 remaining GB.
I don't understand people who spend money on a new phone and even download a new OS just to use it for Facebook and Chrome.

Anyway, I've been away with work for a little over a month so far and I gotta say, having >100gb of TV to watch has been the only thing keeping me sane.

Nope, because it's a DLSR, but that doesn't bother me because I take pictures more for art purposes and shoot RAW so all my pictures need editing before sharing anyway.

If I need to take a picture of something interesting to instantly send someone where quality doesn't matter I'll just use my phone's subpar camera instead.

Wifi/4G is pretty much useless to pro photographers so that's why you only see it on consumer grade cameras. Although I guess a 4G connection for backups incase of SD card failure would be nice, but then paying for a contract is extra expense.

My phone is a 3 year old budget/midrange (Moto G 2013), so no, I don't use it for hardcore gaming. It's still running fine though.

When I was still at Sixth Form I had a few 2D games downloaded I used to play at lunch / in free periods, but nothing that took up GB of space.

Now that I don't have hours to kill away from home I'll just browse 4chan/reddit when I'm out and bored.

At home I mostly just use it for YouTube and whatsapp, neither of which require tonnes of storage either.

Holy fuck this thread is making me sad and depressed.

Pic related my phone.

LG L 65, 1.5gbs of internal memory

I have some trash tier class iv sd card 16gb formated in mixed mode, 70 as public storage 30 as private in the new marshmallow option.

Having that extra memory helps nothing for apps because unlike linking them, which doesnt work in marshmallow, it launches apps from sd card class iv and they take ages to fucking start so i've only have two massive apps there, skype and wps office which I use infrequently.

I pay for the phone and service with 160 mins, sms and 2gb internet plus free deezer account and extra 2gb for it about 12e for a contract of 24 months.

I would like to buy a class 10 card 16gbs dont need more, or uhc 1, but too fucking poor.

At least give people the choice to elect for additional storage that might be slower. This is why Apple will never be taken seriously. Their products look nice on the outside, but use them for more than a week and you'll realize how restrictive the shit known as iOS is. No downloading files from the Internet, no filesystem, and not even the ability to select third-party apps as default. Good hardware marred by laughably walled software.

Linking would be equally slow as adaptable storage since both launch apps from the SD card, but adaptable storage uses encryption which takes a major performance hit on pretty much every Android device
I really don't know what was Google thinking, they should had used the internal storage as a cache
Some custom roms still mount the SD card as the data partition
>>
>>55433735
>This is why Apple will never be taken seriously.
It has a pretty decent market share in first world countries and very widely used in business and generally by the more wealthy and successful people. Besides, Apple makes over 90% of the profits from the entire market and devs prioritise it. Try to look beyond your own navel sometimes.

>At least give people the choice to elect for additional storage that might be slower.
Just like Google did with the Nexus series? Oh right. The variations between microSD cards make them a bad option for a mainstream device like a phone. Idiots buying cheap ass cards would bitch about the performance, which in turn would affect the image of the corporation making the phone. A gamble not worth to take. Giving everyone a great experience out of the box is more comfortable for both parties.

Exactly. Less waifus customizing and more reability/security. I'd say these are aspects that are preferred by most people for a reason. Freedom is only nice until the negative consequences of it hit you.

>So people with more money than brains.
So you rate their decision to get iPhones stronger than their decisions that lead them in the position of wealth and power?

>No, celebrities don't count because they're either paid to endorse Apple
That's what Samsung or Microsoft does. Apple may nigger they way to get hardware contracts with schools and colleges but they never had to pay people to use their shit.
