I have a gtx 760 that only works with one my two CPUs, but the CPU that doesn't work with it works perfectly with any other GPU I pair with it. How is this even possible?

Specs and details please. Jesus christ

are you sure its not the motherboard of each gpu

I have two builds. One with an i7 3770 with a gtx 970. The other one has an i3 2120 with a radeon 6850.
The i7 3770 works with any gpu I throw at it, yet the i3 works with the 6850, the GTX 970 but not the GTX 760.
At the beginning I thought it was a motherboard problem, so I bought a brand new one and nope, got nothing. Then I switched out the PSU for a brand new one as well and nothing again, so that leaves only the CPU.
I simply cannot understand why this is happening. Never seen something like it.
I was gonna gift the i3+760 to a poor friend but the thing refuses to work together. The fan turns on and everything but I never get any image whatsoever.

*cpu

And yeah, I've ran multiple stress tests on the gtx 760 while paired with the i7 3770 and there was no problem found.
literally aliens

Is the 3770 good? Thinking about upgrading my 3470.
>>55126757
It is but if you're upgrading mainly for gaming then there is no reason whatsoever.
>>55126722
thats pretty fuckin weird
>>55126775
No performance increase? Even in CPU bound games?
>>55126777
Yeah and I can't find anyone with a similar case to me. It's frustrating because I ended up wasting more trying to fix this thing and failing by buying a new mobo + psu than I would getting another similar GPU and being done with it.

It would be negligible. Your CPU has a clock of 3.2 GHz and boosts up to 3.6. The i7 has a base clock of 3.4 GHz and boosts up to 3.9 GHz. You wouldn't feel any tangible improvements, besides, you'd probably end up running in the occasional non-optimized game where turning off Hyperthreading, which would basically leave you with a glorified i5, ends up being benefitial. Dying Light for example is one of those.
But anyway, are you really getting bottlenecked with that CPU? I haven't run into anything that me feel like upgrading and CPU requirements are bound to get lighter over with the upcoming stuff such as directx 12, vulkan, etc.

that made me* feel
I had the exact same issue with my old gtx560ti. One day it stopped working with my A build and I just said fuck it, Ill put toghether a new build B. Build B was all brand new parts and worked fine. After that I swapped all and every part and reduced the incompatibilty issue to the cpu. 3570k*. I only ever found one other post from years ago wirh this same problem and no ezpkanation. Fucking aliens!

Oh I see. I thought that upgrading to a 3770 would give me some extra performance. I still want to get a PCIE SSD though, if my GPU would let me get access to my extra sata slot then I would just get a plan old SSD.

why did this have to happen to us
>>55127142
What gpu are you using? An ssd is a nice performance boost for general system responsiveness. Witcher 3 heavily benefits from it from my experience.

I am using a Zotac GTX 970
