The only constant variable i can think of is temperature fluctuation combined with minimal use. Like "dont use your DVD player after it gets warm and humid". Maybe its a literal planned obsolescence date? Like "All dvd players must stop working on 5/30".

Hadn't thought to track the brand names of all 3 that died within 1 day of each other, but its a major coincidence and nobody has a better idea of how that could happen.

Sounds very much like coincidence. I suggest you look at the wikipedia article for probability and understand that while it is unlikely for a set of events like that to happen to one specific person, the world is a large enough sample set that it would be weird if it didn't happen to someone.
