help /g/ I'm fucked
I regret having installed Windows 10.
it's already passed one month and I dont have any cd key from my previous win
WHAT I DO NOW
PLEASE HELP ME
If you don't use your computer primarily for gaming Linux isn't actually that bad. I have been using Xubuntu for 4 days and I can say that its more user friendly than I expect, coming from someone who always used Windows. If you play games just duel boot.
You are fucked because
A) You didn't refuse the upgrade
B) You didn't downgrade when you had plenty of time to do so
These both indicate that you are too stupid to use a Linux based operating system, and >>55577576, as a newfag you should know that stupid people using a Linux based OS is bad for /g/, especially when /g/ suggests it.
So OP your choices are
B) Glorious Suicide
I am offering a reward for anyone who can complete all of my puzzles, this is the first one, and it's harder than you think.
I'm in love.
What is the best way to encrypt a fixed storage drive so that it is accessible in both Windows and Linux? Bitlocker is not audited and requires a lot of setup in Linux.
Silly anon, I don't store food in my computer
Thank you, I will look into it.
Do you really need to know math for programming?
I would say that knowing some some higher levels of calculus, algebra and other things they have tried to teach me in university is the first step where you stop being code monkey and starts your long painful journey into software engineering.
If nothing else it helps you to develop/train the abstract engine in your head and filter out the lazy/bad students.
Also try to do anything in 3D related things without algebra. I dare you.
If tech illiterate "net neutrality" leftists have their way, this pro-consumer offer would be ILLEGAL as it violates the moronic, illiberal concept of "net neutrality" where consumers are denied better service in the name of "equality".
When did you actually start thinking for yourself and reject the authoritarian left-wing notion of a government regulated, anti-consumer "net neutrality" Internet?
If net neutrality doesn't exist your the price of your internet bill goes up the more your neighbours use use theirs. You might get free Pokemon Go but you'll be paying out the ass to download your shemale porn
Why the hell isn't this thing like $400 now with the 1080 having 2 gb more VRAM and a boost of 1911MHz for the same price and the 1070 being ~$450?
Because Zotac made the best of the best, theyre going to stay expensive because theyre still an expensive to manufacture card, with expensive high quality chips and performance where the price is reasonable.
So windows is a bunch of faggotry wanting to do dumb shit but adobe and gaems
so what hypervisor would you guys use if you want GPU passthrough?
So far I've looked at esxi and some weird shit called unRAID by limetech.
Also you think AMD gpus will always be easier to pass through? I want the gtx1080 for machine learning shit on linux and ideally it'd be nice if there were a hypervisor that I could have the gpu pass through for both linux and windows and just run one at a time.
>gpu pass through
good luck with this, you gonna need it. I am not saying it doesn't exists, but in most project it still has the label "experimental", it has poor performance and it works with limited software, sometimes you even need combinations of hardware as well.
Much more reliable way is to dual boot. It is 10 minutes of setup, 100% software compatibility no matter what updates, drivers, kernels will screw up in future and no bottlenecks in your virtual...

For my first proper build, should I use an AMD CPU, or an Intel CPU? Which does /g/ recommend? I won't be doing anything too CPU intensive, but Gentoo will be used on the machine, so the compile times will have to be taken into account...
What kind of retarded question is that?
Entirely depens. If you are a poorfag and only want to invest very little monry, there are probably some AMD CPUs which are worth it. If you have a little more money to spend an Intel CPU will most probably be better,,,
>Gentoo will be used on the machine, so the compile times will have to be taken into account
If you're actually serious, the 8320 is a good choice for constant compiling, especially with Linux.
Post questions, tips and stories of you restoring a computer
>1.33ghz single core
>Slow as fuck with windows 7 when someone put it in there and gave it to me
>Put windows XP on it
>Still kinda slow
>Think of installing windows 2000 for it to be atleast decent
>Find windows XP super lite (200 mb)
>Finally runs at an acceptable rate
>Except when you put a video
Well they can't all be complete successes, but that'll do
Windows 8 or later might work reasonably well depending on your GPU because of the way later versions of windows offloads more tasks to it. Just be sure to use the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version. Also, a RAM upgrade might help but isn't crucial.
So guyz wtf happened here just wanted to try out my code (http://prntscr.com/bsyvsv a basic file size displayer)
>got the output pic related
>got normal output
Output was: Filesize: 151.232 (pic related) ... > crash
Got this output multiple times debuging until restart
could it be that this is some data of nearby memory addresses?
srsly whats going on here
How important is knowing software development methodologies (such as agile, spiral, waterfall, etc.) in professional software development? Is it something you need to know in order to get a programming job?
My sound card transmits squealing, like the shit you hear from your GPU, into my headphones.
I've narrowed it down to it needing a molex connector from my PSU. I swapped the card to one that doesn't have a power connector, and it's noise free.
So naturally I thought it's the PSU, but I swapped that now, and the card still gives that fucking noise. At this point what the shit can I do? I literally don't know why it's happening, other than bad PSU cables (they're individually braided), or two noisy PSUs which I consider unlikely.

I don't want to Pajeet it up, I already started off bad having solely used PHP in the 5.x days when I was a kid. I have weak math (pre-calc right now) so I'm addressing that. What should I focus on moving forward?
inb4 "git gud at math first"
I can do both right now, though obviously can't do overly complex theory for programming yet. I might be starting with C or Python. Reading material suggestions, or even alternative languages?
What's stopping /g/ from opening a git repo and collaborating on their own browser to address the ">muh SJW firefux" or the ">muh ram hungry botnet" issues? Even if nobody besides /g/ used it, it'd surely be worth it. Surely there's a FEW competent programmers here.
