I remember an hp graphing calculator in the 90's that could have programs transferred to it from a computer by holding the calculator (which had an ir transceiver) up to your computer screen and run a special program that would display rapid flashes.

Not surprised. Half these people would gladly post their entire lives on facebook, snapchat, and twitter. Those who still care about their privacy and don't use those services, well, they get left out. Assuming you're talking about the US, imo, the growing pace of technology and its social changes and an antiquated and out of touch system of public policy may very well extend the surveillance powers of the government and privacy could very well be dead, all without a single resistant voice.
