What are some everyday annoyances that /g/ faces with tech? Pic related, I hate when shit gets stuck under my keycaps
>>54994448
Jesus christ, this just brought back traumatic memories of when I had to open-up and clean my years-old keyboard.
I cleaned it up, and now I'm so paranoid about making sure no shit ever gets in there, but jesus christ. Throw that shit away. It's not worth cleaning it.
Printers take too fucking long
Ah, I clean mine every few months.
>tfw still don't know where every key goes by heart
>32gb memory!!!
>only 25gb is usable.
why is this allowed?
why wouldn't it be?
>>54994418
lol u could sell 8 gb and get some crystals
64 gigs of ram here.
Feels good man.
Hey, /g/, technology newfag here. I recently bought a computer to build myself with the help of a friend. The first time we put it together the lights only flashed on when you pushed the power button. We then discovered that the power supply was bad, and I got a replacement. Before I hooked up the new power supply, my friend made sure that the motherboard, graphics card, and ram worked. He couldn't check the processor because he didn't have a big enough power supply. Now with the new power supply, all the lights and fans in the computer pulse on and off quickly.
Shit cooler, unsubscribed.

You need a bigger case.
This why I just bought a prebuilt. I would've been really irritable if I had to exchange parts during stress testing.
It is common knowledge that /g/ is guru when it compe to linux and thinkpads. This should be a piece of cake for you: how to disable led in Fn key?
I am using x240
open up your laptop and snip the LED cable would be the easiest way
>>54994204
>x240
Nuthinkpad
No thanks senpai you fucked up. Most /g/ents would never own anything newer than x220 which doesn't have the apple copy cat keyboard or LED shit.
>>54994204
>He fell for the *40 series meme
Ya dun goof'd, enjoy your useless trackpad unless you shell out like 20 bucks for a *50 series trackpad.
Also fuck off to /sqt/ or /tpg/. I know the answer to your question, but you can go fuck yourself because you didn't read the sticky.
Why did Linux on the desktop fail?
Maybe because it was never meant to be a desktop but a server OS
>>54994125
>Why did Linux on the desktop fail?
It didn't. People are currently using Linux on the desktop.
>>54994125
Enjoy your malware or uncustomizable babby OS.
>>54994175
Yeah, but that's about only 1% of the desktop marketshare
>all day battery life
>but only if you do literally nothing on it
Why did I buy into this meme? The most I get out of it is 2 or 3 hours of development work.
Why is Apple so misleading in their advertising? I only noticed the "(up to)" in their advertising after I impulse-bought my laptop.
>>54994056
>misleading
Not for its intended audience of facebook surfers
>complain about getting shit battery life when the cpu is constantly maxed out
kys
>>54994056
Think different (special)
What antivirus do you guys use /g/? I use to use avira, but after it got popular it's bloated as fuck and filled with ads.
>inb4 that redditor with Common Sense 2016
>>54994050
>>install Gentoo
>>54994050
Install Gentoo
How long do you think it'll last? How long do you plan to use it before getting a new computer?
no such thing
>>54993839
wew lad
My computer is 10 years old and I don't have any pressing need to replace it.
I use it to develop software.
Not everyone is a gamer manchild like you.
Does /g/ make use of their task scheduler, or similar automated scheduler for whatever fucking OS you use.
For me, I use it for a few things.
1. I have a task set to run each day that syncs the system clock on my HPTC to ensure the clock doesn't drift away from the real current time
2. I have a task scheduled to lock my encrypted drives once everyday.
3. I have a task to run at boot to start a program with elevated admin privs.
What do you use task scheduler for?
install gentoo
No, because I'm not a pedophile and/or an autist
>>54993791
>his clock drifts away
hahaha
Nexus 5 confirmed greatest phone ever.
http://www.phonearena.com/news/MaruOS-is-like-Continuum-for-Android-turns-the-Nexus-5-into-a-Linux-computer_id81991
Run android on the phone and seamlessly switch to Debian GNU/Linux when plugged into an external monitor. Future incoming.
That is really cool, might just create one device for everything.

>/g/ can't decide what browser to use on Android
Obviously, the best Android browser is Chrome. Deal with it and enjoy it.
Lightning on fdroid
>>54993644
Buggy as fuck, adblocking doesn't even work well.
The stock browser on CyanogenMod (not that Gello one) while keeping WebView updated.
This is the patrician browser choice. It's fucking light while still having some functionality.
