What is the best /g/ approved website or program to download youtube playlists? Looking to download an hour or so of playlists.

Dont you have to download that? Or do you do it on a web browser? How do I know which one to dl?
So I picked up one of those mini soldering irons from massdrop a while back. I've never soldered anything in my life and have no idea what kind of projects I should be getting started with. I don't have have any EE knowledge, either. I am an SE by profession, though, so hardware/embedded programming should not be an insurmountable leap.
Do any EE types hang around /g/? If you do, what should I be doing?
solder a processeor
>>55046730
There's a lot you can do with an soldering iron but you should narrow down your interests. Truth be told all s soldering does is place components and remove them. Really depends on what kind of electronic circuits you want to make.Visit /diy/ for a more insightful response.

A "gaming laptop" is a very poor choice all around. A mistake normally only made by children. I play games too, but on a fucking desktop.

So just how reliable are these?
I've heard that modern SSDs will either become obsoleted by something else by the time they'd start to degrade, or that they'll outlive you before they start to.
Is this true?
my OCZ vertex 3 from 4 years ago is apparently still at 100% drive health
>>55045561
Good ssds from non shit companies will likely outlive you unless you're running database loads through them daily. My friend is still running his first generation intel 60gb ssd. I mean shit, even the budget tier Crucial ssds are rated to be able to handle 50gb of data written to the drive every day for 5 years before the possibility of failure.
Just don't buy garbage. Don't try and save $10 bow and get some no name shit. In order of most expensive and fastest to cheaper but still reliableComment too long. Click here to view the full text.
I got a Crucial M550 256 gigs from 4 years ago.
Works perfrctly all the time since then.

Which one should I choose?

Arch Linux. Slackware feels it's necessary to make things too complicated.

Not choose suicide linux
>>55045423
I am using linux for a long time so I'm not scare of 'suicide linux'.
Why is linux so cumbersome to use?
I installed Mint yesterday and have been fighting with it ever since to do what I want it to do. Installing things is a pain if not from the software center. The things that I did install I don't even know how to run since there's no icon for them anywhere aside from the explorer and nothing I click makes it run. Even if I did manage to get that part working, a bunch of the things I want to install apparently aren't even available for Linux.
I haven't riced anything yet, but most of the icons, interfaces etc....

Cumbersome for retards.
>>55045251
I'm not quite sure what you find so difficult. Firstly, things are easy to install, especially for mint. They often come in a tarballs if they're not in your distro's repository and most of these only need extracting to run whatever is inside. .deb s can also be used; install gdebi for this.
As for the performance issues, I don't see how your performance can be worse than it is on windows. If you think everything looks 'cheap and unprofessional', then change the look. You don't...

cont. from 5710 post:
You say that programs are stored all over the place, but that's just how *nix systems work. Binaries are kept in one place, libraries in another etc. . It's actually quite logical once you get used to it and can make things a lot easier to work with.
Latest Xcode beta distributed to partners reveal prompts related to building desktop apps to run on ARM architecture.
>>55045072
About time, considering how Mac OS X technically had ARM supposed for the longest time, considering their iDevices with iOS (since iOS is essentially just a stripped-down OS X).
They can't keep getting away with it.
>>55045351
Why is this good? A big selling point for them is Virtualization. Can't virtualize x86 well on ARM last I checked.
Maybe they're trying to pull a Windows, and allow devs to make one app accessible on both? If so, I don't see an implementation that doesn't screw it up for desktop apps. For instance, if VLC does it, they can't do as much on desktop. Maybe if the iOS export/build auto gimps iOS (removing the features iOS doesn't do), that's fine.

Welcome to /fglt/. We are always open to users of all levels, including absolute beginners.
There are four ways to try GNU/Linux, you can:
0) Install a GNU/Linux OS on a VM (Virtual Machine/VirtualBox) for "safety purposes"
1) Use the Live ISO directly without installing anything, that way, you can get a "full GNU/Linux experience".
2) Dual-boot GNU/Linux with Windows/Mac (recommended if you want to learn more about GNU/Linux)
3) Go balls...

it works on the thinkpad's left click thingy though.
How do I get rid of the screen in the beginning that asks me to boot to windows or puppy? I don't even have windows installed so I absolutely hate this screen.
>>55044531
that screen is the bootloader GRUB. I don't know if it's even possible to remove it, but it's generally a good idea to keep it in case you have trouble booting.
Instead of removing it you can edit the file /etc/default/grub with superuser priviledges and change the value of GRUB_TIMEOUT to 0. Afterwards you need to update GRUB, in Ubuntu I believe the command is "sudo update-grub", in Fedora it is "sudo grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg". Better search for instructions for...

should i switch from my old crappy Logitech given for free from a friend (that now sadly uses only razer gaymen shit) to a I-guess-better Logitech MX master? i really like the design and fit
that LG mouse is almost perfect
>>55043340
i hope you're talkin about the second one, 'cause I feel kinda the same
I have had the MX Master. I want to be completely honest: I tried to like it, a lot. I wanted to justify the cost and manage to appreciate it fully, but I kept switching back to my G400s. Damn this thing is one of the best mice ever built.
I'm not a lot of a gaymur myself, I program or study most of my time, and I can tell you gaming mice are the comfiest for everything. Try to avoid the edgy/transformery looking ones, they're almost always shit. I'd go for something in the line of the razer deathadder or the G400s itself.

So why exactly has progress on consumer grade processors slowed so much? Will I be using my skylake i5 for the next ten years or something?
