whats the justification behind devs locking games for CPU's with less than 3 cores?
are they saying a slow ass xeon 4 core under 2GHZ can compute their game's data faster than a haswell/skylake i3-4170/6100?
or did Intel try an pay them off since everyone figured out that i3's and even Pentiums are more than enough to then be paired with a 900 series Nvidia to try an force them to purchase i5's an i7's
Pretty sure an i3 would still work fine and it's still dual core.
Probably incompetent devs not letting the game run with 2 threads.
Can't wait for dx12 to become mainstream, hopefully for bf5.
There are patches that eliminate this. Almost every game has a patch.
Anyway, I think it's stupid to restrict what hardware your software can run on, but i use FREE SOFTWARE so this does not effect me.
yeah but only cause of the hyperthreading fooling the game into thinking its 4 cores
but my question is, why would devs do this, cause a shitty 4 core AMD gets mopped in any type of threaded action with most 2nd or even 3rd generation old Intel's with 2 cores
anyone else miss firewire?
Why aren't you giving your eyes a break tonight?
>Redshift (for Linux)
>Twilight (for Android)
>implying I'm not running redshift right now on my gentoo x220
> implying I don't have f.lux running on my jailbroken iphone
> implying I don't have smart lights set to "orange" light at night
my melatonin game is strong nigger
Does knowing math makes you a good programmer?
is installing linux a good way to force yourself to stop wasting time playing video games
Does anyone know how to remove this shit?
It forced me to download windows 10 on my laptop, fuck no this isn't happening to my pc.
Microsoft are just being gay as hell, might actually consider going linux.
I'm not even a shill or anything, but you really should upgrade anon. I just did last week, and it is literally so much faster than my previous version of windows! Everything is just so....snappy! I couldn't believe it at first, but now I'm glad I upgraded. Do it my friend, you won't regret it :)
>Has no games
>No tech support
>Less than 1% installed
Jesus, why not just use windows for fucks sake. It can do everything Linux can, only better.
s340 vs h440 go
Found this piece of shit at work today, what can I do to make it run an internet browser without taking 30 seconds to switch tabs?
Can I ever make it run WoW?
That's curious, says it has an Intel Pentium T4500 on the sticker on it.
Anyone know why it wouldn't be showing up?
I clean out dorm rooms, what I find I keep. That's just how it is.

What are you working on, /g/?
Mona lizard. Right now I'm building one with 300 triangles and 1000 candidates for each. We'll see how that turns out.

Let's discuss the consumer laptop market
What trends are you guys noticing?
What machines do you find interesting/want?
Do you think the traditional laptop form factor is here to stay?
FHD displays are showing up at lower prices. For example, ASUS is currently selling a "Vivobook", which is a 14 inch FHD laptop with 4gb ram and roughly twice the performance of N2840. I own a N2840 machine and it is sufficient for light use, the Vivobook is definitely a product I would buy. Acer has a gorgeous 14" chromebook with the same hardware (it's just like when we saw the HP Stream's N2840/2GB DDR3/32GB EEMC in everything) for $300. It claims a 12 hour battery life. You can install *nix natively. I would suggest this thing to anyone I know who isn't good with computers. They get roughly 3100 in Geekbench 3, compared to the ~5000 of the t420/2520m. I would consider that a good "deal".
We're seeing major GPU efficiency increases with 14nm lithography and I feel that this is going to be huge in the laptop market over the next year. Only HP has a 7th gen AMD computer for sale, a FX 9800p, because it seems Apple has bought all of the chips. This is a good sign. We may finally get to the point where a moderately priced, portable, laptop can play current gen games at console levels. Strong APUs able to play online games like CS:Go LoL and WoW will be very popular as these are the games that the most people spend the most time in.
FINALLY e-GPUs are catching on. They really are the best solution for mobile gaming. I have never appreciated Small FFs until I took my full tower with me all over the fucking country last year. With CPUs being as strong as they are, any decent laptop will be able to play AAA titles with an egpu. This will also hopefully drive OEMs to include faster I/O ports on entry priced machines. At this point it's just waiting for a reasonably priced one to hit the market, they're relatively simple as far as hardware goes.
Unfortunately it seems chicklet keys are here to stay for the foreseeable future. It would be nice to see some OEMs go back to decent keyboards but the general consumer doesn't want it/care. Same issue we saw with 1366x768 and optical med$
There has been evidence of ARM based Macs coming found in xcode. This is going to open up all sorts of interesting form factors. I know here on /g/ we value practicality and price/pref over all but it's nice to have a toy like a 2-1 or so$
I've noticed there's a steep decline in performance increase with new generations
My 6-year old Acer Aspire (which I bought for £400) still has above-budget specs, and even has a dedicated GPU. A modern £400 laptop should be shitting on it, but instead we're getting silly shit like "2-in-1" solutions where companies are trying to sell tablets at laptop prices, cloud storage as an unironic alternative to large HDDs, this weird "2GB is enough RAM for Windows 10", this "1366x768 is enough for everyday use" nonsense, and no dedicated GPU as a sacrifice to thinness.
What is a DAW?

>tfw you find a new HDD but realize that you've run out of SATA slots on your baby
pic related; my game machine
>tfw the pc you got came with quad core 2.5GHZ processors, so you can upgrade from your old dual core 2.6GHZ.
Hi /g/, i've been having issues with my PC for a little while and whatever game I play, it tends to just lag and go back to normal, I think it may be my graphics card but i'm not entirely sure, my graphics card is a GTX 760, let me know if I must provide more information, I also checked for drivers and updated them and did a virus sweep and clean and nothing changed, any help would be appreciated
I understand the no tech support rule and i'm trying not to break it really, I would like to know from experts on this topic and what i could do to fix it now and if it happens in the future again.
