>-- sent from my Nexus phone, which forced me to give up my long-lasting attachment to the physical keyboard, which likely means more typos on top of the already annoying (at least to an erstwhile spelling champ) phonetic spell-it-like-you-hear-it effect in conversational communications, which led to this ridiculous message -- so you see the problem, right? apparently, it's "fingered speech"

I love redundantly defining words I just used too.

learn to adapt grandpa
You can type much faster on a software keyboard than a physical keyboard on a phone.
What is the best Arch based distro and why? (Excluding standard Arch Linux)
My current choices are Manjaro, Antergos and Apricity OS.
>>55111332
Whichever one has an OpenRC option
Is manjaro even arch anymore
It is a really large difference between arch when you think about it.
>>55111332
Antergos is best in my opinion.Really though, all distros are a roll of the dice depending on what you have for hardware and bios. Many people here spout shit about their favorites and fail to understand this simple fact.
Is there any equivalent book for Fortran? I've been meaning to learn Fortran sometime.
I also suppose this could also be a thread about books you've enjoyed.
Name a single reason why you would want to learn fortran in 2016.
Even cobol is more lucrative simply because banks and governments still use it.
grandpa?

There's only one reason to learn anything: for fun. If you learn something for a reason other than fun you are probably a cuck of some sort: most likely a wagecuck.
that is the dumbest thing ive ever seen

I hate programmer humor so much.
All the mildly funny ones have been repeated to death and everything else consists of applying psuedocode to everyday things and then acting like you're cute or witty for writing dumb shit like if (COFFEE_EMPTY) refillCoffee(); on your coffee mug.
Winpleb here swtching to linux (mint)
What is the best most efficient DE?
I've read that both KDE and gnome are supposedly awesome.
Also, will it be a smooth transition from windows to linux mint?
And sorry about my shitty grammar

"Efficient" is a very tricky word. For someone switching you may go with Cinnamon so you can feel at home. Is very comfy.
But don't worry to chose wrong, you can always switch, everybody do.

Ive got a laptop with an i5200u. I want to upgrade the graphics by unplugging the wireless card and plugging in a gtx 960 with an adapter. How bad is my i5 going to bottle neck the gpu? And how much will the performance suffer overall since the adapter converts the pcie to pcie mini?
Depending on what sort of adapter you get, you can be limited from anywhere between x1 to x4 speeds.
>>55110984
assuming you mean an i5 5200u, it should bottleneck around 20% the performance, your cpu have the same performance of my 2520m, everything should run at decent framerate, don't expect desktop pc performance btw

Best keyboard specifically for programming in an office environment? Would mechanical brown switches be quiet enough?
Pic maybe related.
>>55110809
We have a fucking general for this
An IBM/Lenovo rubberdome keyboard. You're not going to get a mechanical keyboard as quiet as one of these without sacrificing the tactile bump on the keys.

get clears not browns, browns feel like shit man and will be louder because they bottom out at pretty much no force at all

How come no one at microsoft has leaked the source code for windows xp or better yet 7?
They would be regarded as a hero to all wouldn't they?
It'd completely screw their life up sure because the microsoft mafia would go after them, but by then it would have spread throughout the internet
Because source code can only be compiled by some scripts from 90s. Nobody knows how they work so nobody knows what exactly to leak.
No one person or machine has the code. It's in pieces to prevent this from happening.
Microsoft source codes for Windows are probably kept on proprietary drives that only Microsoft has, then kept in vaults.
Is it any good?

Lags to shit for no reason when displaying large amounts of unicode characters. Broken delete key. Uses special snowflake termcap which needs to be installed on all remote systems. No run-time configuration. Needs patches applied to get scrollback. Does not support highlighting text without click+drag.
There are no advantages to using this over xterm.
