Fug, posted my question just as the new thread got made. Reposting here.
Do the chinks have a good chromecast knockoff? 39 euro is a bit too steep for me just to stream my weeb shows from my redmi to my tv once in a while.
Or am I better off buying something like a raspberry and just playing the files straight from that?

Speccy thread. Stuck with this for awhile, the ssd helps a lot and I ordered a 2gb ram stick to bump it up to 4gb for $5.
Gaming-related discussions go in >>>/v/
>>55158841
lol its not gaming at all.
>>55158875
The only people who circlejerk over their specs are gamers.

I always see these threads on /g/ with neckbeards posting their overclocked gaymen rigs with i7s and GTX 1080s.
What the fuck do you need such powerful components for? Do you actually do anything productive with it besides gaymen?
I still can't see the need for anything more than an i5 and I actually produce music and render shit.
9 out of 10 battlestations on /g/ are just for gaymen.
/g/ is infested with manchildren.
>>55158812
I can see the appeal of having a silent and aesthetic looking pc but I still fail to see the need for overclocking or 500 dollar graphics cards.
Why are gpu threads so popular anyway?
>>55158773
Fuck off
I'm a student from a Yuropoor country that was recently in a car accident and all my personal belongings were both damaged and destroyed.
I was basically hit & run by a car and the bag with my personal belongings took the hardest hit. (Classic iPod fucked, phone looks like someone bashed it with a baseball bat, Wacom Intuos Creative stylus bent in half, power bank has huge dent in it,...)
One of the damaged items was a Nexus 7 2012 tablet with a bluetooth keyboard that I wrote my notes on. The bluetooth keyboard cover was completely smashed but the Nexus 7 tablet survived with just a badly damaged digitizer and a lot of damage on the plastic, screen somehow survived with just a very small crack.
After hospital bills and getting a replacement smartphone, I was left with as low as 50 Eur for a budget for a new tablet.
Would it be better to either buy a new (used) tablet or send the tablet for repairs?
>>55158735
Didn't read lol
How is this difficult? If it costs less to repair, repair it, otherwise replace it.
>>55158798
I'm a retard when it comes to repairing tech stuff so I would send it somewhere for repairs
Everyone I know keeps also telling me horror stories of repair shops charging too much money
>>55158735
I feel sorry for you mate. Hope you're back on your feet soon.
You can either do the cheap chink shit tablet route, go second hand or get a Kindle Fire and put CM on it.
Pertaining to /brit/, what's your preference and opinion on your ISPs?
I'm going to switch to a new fiber package and everyone is more or less offering the same deals, however whether or not they are a reliable and trustworthy provider is another story.
So tell me /g/, which ISP best deserves my shekels?
Sorry if it's not really 'techy' stuff, but trust that through the shit posting on /g/, there are valuable answers.
Plusnet, they give better upload speeds than most of the competition and no bullshit caps or throttling.
Check uswitch for deals.

Thanks for the tip.
I was thinking about either them or BT.
I'd like to be able to use my own router and upspeed is under looked in the UK, thanks.
Perl Thread!
All the faggots using php and now JS on the server can suck camel cock
>>55159060
lol people haven't been making perl web apps since like 1999.
Bugzilla is literally the only common app out there still perl based.
I'm learning perl right now.
It's fucking comfy with all these variables.
I don't care if it's used or not in webz. I use it for my own simple tasks and it's great.
This is the core i3 cpu architecture, but where are the l1 and l2 cache?
Inside the cores.

Hi /g/
I've had my current computer for around 4 years now. I took the computer apart today to give it a proper clean and since I was taking it all apart I decided to get an extra 8GB of memory to put in it. I bought the exact make and model of my current RAM but when I put the extra 2 sticks in it won't post at all, the new RAM works fine since I just put that in and it boots up but it seems to be incompatible with the RAM I already have despite being the exact same model. I did buy my current RAM back in 2012 so the only thing I can think of is Corsair changing...

I know it's not /FL related, but if I buy pepper from the grocery store and plant them, will they grow well? Or should I opt for a specialized plant seed.
>>55158403
if you live in a warm climate or have somewhere in direct sunlight they might do well
not sure why you would use store bought peppers when you can get seeds from any variety online tho
Why won't this fucking XBOX one controller driver install correctly?
I fucking have windows 7 updated all the fucking way to it's current fucking cuck edition and the fucking driver still won't install correctly
I unistalled the driver, reinstalled it.

Going to need a laptop for my courses. Any /g/ approved Windows laptops or does Windows automatically disqualify it?
Needs Windows to be able to handle Word and Photoshop. Preferably 1080p display. Gaming doesn't matter.
Get a MacBook Pro.

Get a Mac
I got a Lenovo Edge 2.
Has anyone here taking the RHSCA exam? I assume that the workstations you work on for the test is a vm itself and therefore wont need to do much, if any, KVM tasks. Is that a safe assumption. I dont care much for KVM to begin with since VMWare has the vm game on lock, and a lot of infrastructure can be found on the cloud too, from my experience any way,
I've gone through the RHCSA book, and now just going back on some of the things I'm a little weak on, such as selinux, and especially KVM since I skipped that chapter as I didn't have a dedicated machine...

>>55158250
cosidering KVM is a Red Hat product and you're taking a Red Hat test...
>>55158291
That really doesn't answer the question. If the workstations are VM's, which I would imagine they are since I doubt these locations will constantly setup a new workstation because someone killed the system, and the fact that you cant VM from a VM, my question is worth asking since it may relieve me of some of the workload and focus on other things that are not dependent on whether the system is virtual or not
>>55158331
And the reason I ask is because I've seen often people mention that vm stuff was not on the exam. And I've yet to come across a comment on any forum that talks about vm's, even without breaking the nda
What's happening quicker: Hard drive capacity increasing or peoples data requirements increasing?
Personal data requirements are only going down because everything is moving into vendor clouds.
Local storage keeps getting faster but with a fraction of the capacity of old-school disks.
For me, there was a gap between the Taiwan Tsunami and today where my needs/wants for storage capacity were completely outpacing the capacity that I was willing to pay for.
Today an 8TB can be had for $250 or lower. I have a lot of media, and even if I went on a spree and had 3GB-10GB copies of every movie that I could conceivably want in the next 5 years and everything before then, TV shows, anime, concerts, music, I think all I would want is about ~25TB(and a mirror or RAID redundancy component to that, so let's say 50TB), which is suddenly affordable and doesn't...
